Alpha Mu Omega Chapter chapter has a rich heritage of women making a difference in the Indianapolis community and internationally in Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority. In 1908, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority became America's first Greek-letter organization established by Black college women. Her roots date back to Howard University, Washington, D.C., where the idea for formation was conceived by Ethel Hedgem

💗💚 Black Dollar Days Has Officially Begun! 💚💗

Today, members of Alpha Mu Omega Chapter gathered for lunch as we kicked off our Black Dollar Days initiative by intentionally supporting a Black-owned business. We enjoyed an amazing meal at His Place Eatery, where the food, service, and hospitality were truly top-notch!

Supporting Black-owned businesses strengthens our communities, creates economic opportunities, and helps build generational wealth.

Sorors, don’t forget our challenge:💗 Wear Pink💚 Spend Green🖤 Buy Black

Throughout the month, we encourage you to support Black-owned businesses, share your experiences, and post your photos. Be sure to tag and use the hashtag so we can celebrate and repost your support!

Together, let’s make an impact, one dollar at a time.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Mental Health Roundtable Discussion featuring Kody Green, a schizophrenia and addiction advocate. Together, we engaged in a meaningful and honest conversation about mental illness, recovery, stigma, and the importance of supporting one another through life’s challenges.

Kody’s powerful story reminded us that mental health impacts us all and that healing begins when we create spaces for open dialogue, understanding, and compassion.

A special thank you to our attendees, community partners, and volunteers for helping make this event a success. We hope each person left with greater awareness, valuable resources, and a renewed commitment to supporting mental wellness in our communities.

Let’s continue the conversation, break the stigma, and advocate for mental health every day.

Moving for Mental Health & Wellness✨

The ladies of Alpha Mu Omega Chapter joined the men of Alpha Phi Alpha for the “Join the Movement” Hike as part of the AlphaPhit and PrettyPhit initiative at Eagle Creek Park.

The evening focused on physical health, mental wellness, and strengthening community connections. Together, we embraced the opportunity to move our bodies, clear our minds, and prioritize our overall well-being.

Mental health matters. Physical health matters. Community matters.

Thank you to everyone who joined us as we took steps toward healthier lifestyles and meaningful connections. Let’s continue to encourage one another to stay active, support mental wellness, and keep the movement going!

💚🩷 Double the Walks. Double the Impact. 💚🩷

Please join the ladies of Alpha Mu Omega Chapter as we partner with the men of Alpha Phi Alpha for not one, but TWO meaningful walks on Saturday, June 6th!

🚶🏾‍♀️ Sickle Cell Walk
🚶🏾‍♂️ NAMI Walk

These causes mean so much to us as a chapter and to our community. Together, we will walk to raise awareness, show support, and learn more about the important work both organizations are doing.

We invite all sisters, brothers, family, and friends to come out and walk with us as we support health, wellness, advocacy, and community impact.

Let’s show up, walk with purpose, and make a difference together! 💚🩷

💚💗 May is Mental Health Awareness Month 💗💚

As we close out Mental Health Awareness Month, we want to sincerely thank all of the members of Alpha Mu Omega Chapter who courageously shared their personal journeys throughout our series. Your honesty, vulnerability, and strength created space for healing, understanding, and support within our sisterhood and community.

We are especially honored to feature Sister Nova Govan in this final post as she shares her powerful story. Her voice, along with the voices of every sister who participated this month, reminds us that none of us are alone and that there is strength in sharing, listening, and uplifting one another.

It is our hope that these stories have encouraged someone, helped someone feel seen, or reminded someone to keep going. 💕

✨ Final Mental Health Tip of the Week:
Continue checking in on yourself and those around you. A simple conversation, moment of rest, or act of kindness can make a meaningful difference in someone’s mental health journey.

Thank you for watching, supporting, sharing, and helping us continue the conversation surrounding mental health and wellness. 💗💚

Dinner will be served, so be sure to register for this meaningful event ➡️ https://akaamo.wildapricot.org/event-6699161

You don’t want to miss this opportunity to hear from Kody Green and continue the important conversation surrounding mental wellness and support.
