As Indianapolis responds to ongoing flooding, remember to stay away from downed power lines, avoid standing water near electrical equipment, and follow guidance from local emergency officials at Marion County Emergency Management, IMPD News, and Indianapolis Fire Department. Your safety comes first.

⚠️ 8/13/26 10 AM Storm Restoration Update: AES Indiana crews have worked around the clock following Monday’s severe weather, making repairs through challenging conditions and significant storm damage. Of the approximately 27,000 customers impacted by the initial storm, approximately 153 remain without power, with crews assigned to every remaining outage incident.

The current estimated time of restoration (ETR) is noon today, August 13.

We know customers are counting on us, and our crews will continue working until restoration is complete. We appreciate your patience throughout this effort.

We’re also monitoring the potential for additional thunderstorms this afternoon.

⚠️ 8/12/26 6:00 PM Storm Restoration Update: AES Indiana crews continue making progress restoring power following yesterday’s severe weather.

Approximately 1,200 customers remain without power from the initial storm as teams assess damage, make repairs and safely restore service.

Crews continue working into the evening and overnight to restore service as quickly and safely as possible. The current estimated time of restoration is noon tomorrow, August 13 for customers impacted by the initial storm.

⚠️ 8/12/26 10:30 AM Storm Restoration Update: Yesterday’s severe weather system brought damaging winds, heavy rain and lightning across our service territory, impacting approximately 27,000 customers.

AES Indiana crews made significant progress overnight, restoring power to more than 80% of impacted customers. Crews remain fully staffed and are continuing to assess damage and restore service as quickly and safely as possible.

⚠️ Stay weather aware today, Central Indiana. Severe storms are possible this afternoon and evening.

Marginally severe storms will be possible this morning with the main threat being a complex of strong to severe storms this afternoon and evening. Damaging winds and flooding will be the main threat with the potential for pockets of 70+ mph winds.

Scattered thunderstorms will develop this evening and continue overnight. More numerous storms are expected Tuesday afternoon into Tuesday evening and again Wednesday. Severe storms are possible, especially on Tuesday. Damaging winds and heavy rain are the primary threats, but isolated tornadoes and large hail are also possible. Be weather aware into Wednesday!
