Morning Manna: "Spiritual PTSD"
"He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds." — Psalm 147:3
Many people understand PTSD as a response to a traumatic event, but there is also what some call "spiritual PTSD"—the lingering wounds that come from painful church experiences, betrayal by trusted leaders, unanswered prayers, seasons of suffering, or battles that have left scars on the soul.
You may love God and still struggle with trust.
You may attend worship and still feel guarded.
You may pray and still carry fear from what happened yesterday.
The disciples experienced something similar after the crucifixion. Though Jesus had risen, they were found hiding behind locked doors for fear of what might happen next. Their trauma caused them to retreat, isolate, and question. Yet Jesus did not rebuke them. He entered the room, stood among them, and said, "Peace be unto you" (John 20:19).
Notice what Jesus did not say. He did not say, "Get over it." He did not say, "Your faith should be stronger." Instead, He brought His presence into their pain.
The enemy wants your wounds to become walls. God wants your wounds to become testimonies.
Healing begins when we stop pretending we are okay and allow God to touch the places that still hurt. The same God who delivered you from the battle can also heal you from the memory of the battle.
Your scars do not disqualify you. They are evidence that God preserved you.
The trauma happened, but it does not have to define the rest of your story.
Father, You know every wound, disappointment, betrayal, and painful memory we carry. Heal the places in our heart that still tremble from yesterday's battles. Replace fear with faith, anxiety with peace, and brokenness with wholeness. Help us to trust You again where we have been hurt.
Thank You that You are not only our Deliverer but also our Healer. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Point to ponder:
The strongest testimony is not that you survived the storm—it is that God taught you how to trust Him again after the storm had passed.

Morning Manna: "When God Says So"
"Simon answered, 'Master, we've worked hard all night and haven't caught anything. But because You say so, I will let down the nets.'" — Luke 5:5
There are moments in life when God's instructions do not seem to make sense. Simon Peter was an experienced fisherman. He knew the waters. He knew the best fishing times. After an entire night of failure, Jesus told him to try again.
From a human perspective, the command was unreasonable. Peter could have argued. He could have relied on his experience. He could have pointed to his disappointment. Instead, he chose obedience.
His breakthrough was not found in his expertise; it was found in his willingness to respond, "Because You say so."
Many of us are waiting for God to explain everything before we obey. Yet faith often requires obedience before understanding.
Noah built an ark before the rain came.
Abraham left home without knowing the destination.
Joshua marched around walls before they fell. Peter cast his net into empty water because Jesus said so.
The greatest blessings in life often lie on the other side of simple obedience.
What has God been telling you to do? Forgive someone? Start serving? Give generously? Trust Him with your future? Take a step of faith?
The question is not whether it makes sense to you. The question is whether God has spoken.
When God says so, trust Him enough to move. His instructions carry the power to produce what they command.
Father, help us to trust Your voice above our fears, failures, and personal understanding. Give us the courage to obey even when we cannot see the outcome. Teach us to say, "Because You said so," and walk by faith. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Point to ponder:
What is one area of your life where God is asking for obedience, and what step can you take today simply because He said so?

Morning Manna: The Heart of the Father
“But when he was still a great way off, his father saw him and had compassion, and ran and fell on his neck and kissed him.” (Luke 15:20)
The story of the Prodigal Son is often called the story of a wayward son, but it is equally a story about an extraordinary father. In this passage, Jesus gives us a picture of the heart of God and, by extension, qualities every father should strive to embody.
1. A Father Gives Freedom
The younger son demanded his inheritance and chose to leave home. The father did not force him to stay. Wise fathers guide, teach, and protect, but they also understand that children must make their own choices.
There comes a point when a father must trust that the values he planted will speak louder than his voice.
2. A Father Never Stops Watching
Verse 20 says the father saw his son while he was still a long way off. This suggests he had been looking for him.
A father's love does not end when a child leaves home, makes mistakes, or chooses a different path. A father keeps praying, hoping, and believing.
Some of the most powerful work a father does is done on his knees before God.
3. A Father Leads with Compassion
The son returned expecting judgment, but he found mercy. Before the son could finish his speech, the father embraced him.
Strong fathers understand that correction has its place, but love must always have the final word. Children often remember grace longer than punishment.
4. A Father Restores Identity
The father ordered the robe, ring, and sandals to be brought. These were symbols of sonship and belonging.
The father was saying, "You may have lost your way, but you have not lost your place in this family."
One of a father's greatest responsibilities is helping his children know who they are—not by their failures, but by their God-given identity.
5. A Father Celebrates Redemption
Rather than dwelling on the son's mistakes, the father celebrated his return.
Good fathers don't just point out what's wrong; they rejoice in what's right. They encourage growth, celebrate victories, and remind their children that every comeback deserves praise.
Father God, thank You for showing us Your heart through the father in Luke 15. Help fathers to love with patience, lead with wisdom, extend grace freely, and never stop believing in their children. May every father reflect Your compassion and faithfulness. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Personal Reflection: Are you demonstrating the heart of the father in Luke 15—giving guidance without control, offering grace without compromise, and loving without conditions?
The greatest legacy a father leaves is not wealth or possessions, but a reflection of the Father's heart.
By His grace,
Pastor Weems
