Today is 💙👖 We wear denim to combat victim blaming and educate others about s*xual violence. A person’s choice of clothing has long been used as an excuse for why people experience s*xual violence, and this victim-blaming rhetoric is continually perpetuated by society. We can begin to dismantle this by understanding and accepting consent. Clothing is NOT consent.

In 1992, an 18 year old girl was s*xually violated by her 45 year old driving instructor who took her to an isolated road, took off her jeans, and assaulted her. She reported the incident and he later tried to appeal the conviction by claiming they had consensual s*x. The conviction was overturned because she had been wearing skinny jeans — he would have needed her to help them remove them therefore consented to s*x.

We're so sad recruitment week is ending... let's go out with a bang! Tonight is our final night in which we will provide further additional information about our interest group followed by various activities to bond with other JAADE Jems!

Health disparities is a topic that is often overlooked in the Asian American community despite being high-risk for many health and mental health issues. Come join us for a philanthropic event with MINDY HOANG to learn more about health disparities in the Asian American community, how to discuss these issues with immigrant families, and how to help. Mindy Hoang is a student at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and she has conducted research over health disparities in the Asian American Community.
