We had THE BEST time ~going analog~ at our annual Pathways Bootcamp, a week-long professional development training for Teaching Artists and summer camp staff. There were many great sessions led by industry professionals, including David Murray, Dr. Lexie Signor, Scott Allen, Seth Allen, Marc Keehmer, McKenna Crews, Emily Dills, Dr. Timothy Raines, Cat Hoelscher, Jules Grable, and the Butler HRC.
Thank you to our presenters, the American Camp Association, and our incredible Camps and Community Programs staff. None of this impactful work is possible without you!

Campers 🤝 Discovering how a piano works
Thanks to our piano technician, Matt, campers get to witness the inner workings of a piano and what makes it tick. Or should we say… hammer?
Just thinking back on last summer… Counting down days for this one!☀️

This is what Adult Strings programs look like:
People showing up after work, opening their cases, and figuring it out together. Some played as kids and came back to their bows decades later. Some began playing during the pandemic. Others are learning their instrument for the very first time.
The ensemble started in 2015 with one small class and found its home at the Butler Community Arts School in 2020. Today, the program includes 45 musicians across beginning, intermediate, and advanced ensembles, all learning and playing together each week.
And in the summer, we turn it into camp! A week-long evening program that includes music, laughter, and most importantly... s’mores. 🔥🎻
These incredible programs and the community they've cultivated are directed by our beloved Lead Community Teaching Artist, Shannon Crow ❤

Take note! We've got teen arts camps for just about everything, for grades 7–12. Some camps require a year or more of experience. Others are open to all levels.
