HONESTY IS THE FOUNDATION OF RECOVERY

Honesty is the foundation of recovery. We like to use the Emotional Spiral when we are coaching at 50TWENTY, because it provides clarity and honesty of where we stand based on the emotions we are experiencing.

The peace that the Prince of Peace offers is the only peace worth having. God offers definitive healing and everlasting peace through salvation in His Son the Lord Jesus Christ. This is the peace that passes all understanding that Philippians 4:7 describes. May you trust in the Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior today.

I learned a simple lesson this week. A loving hug is far more powerful than an angry fist. A loving hug has more emotional energy to change another person, is more disarming, and has a greater lasting impact.

'Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do.' Jesus spoke these words while He was being crucified on the cross.

I have a deeper understanding of these words today, because I long for forgiveness from a person who will never forgive me. It brings saddness and sorrow to my heart.

I find the last phrase interesting 'for they know not what they do'. Depression and addiction make us numb to life we have no idea the extent to which we hurt people while we live in darkness.

If we are blessed enough to receive the Light, repent of our sins, and turn back to the Lord we can regain our feelings.

The blessing is we are restored. The curse is we realize the pain we caused everyone we love many of whom rightfully made the choice to abandon us for what we did to them.

Praise Jesus for leaving us with this example of Godly Forgiveness. May we learn to forgive those who have hurt us with the understanding that many times 'they know not what they do'.

Truth slices through every single lie. Search for the Truth. Live in the Truth. The Truth will set you free. I know, because the Truth broke the shackles that held me captive for decades. Now, I live in the freedom only Jesus provides.

If you have ever lived with the weight of depression you will relate to the words of this song. Depression is heavy, deep, and lonely. Those around you won't understand you. But, Jesus will! Turn to the Him and rest in the shade of the Cross.

Depression creates a void within our heart, mind, and soul. The techniques we use at 50TWENTY to declare victory over depression are designed to fill our void with positive, healthy, and spiritual life habits.

In order to truly become victorious over the anger within us we must find freedom from our controlling behaviors. To accomplish that we must understand ourselves and know that we experience life differently from others.

When we are coaching at 50TWENTY we utilize the Emotional Spiral to visually map out how emotions affect our life and our daily choices. By understanding our emotions and how they affect us we are empowered to choose healthy choices leading to a healthy life.
