E-Collars: Misunderstood Tool or Path to Freedom?
Let me be clearāan e-collar in the hands of an untrained person can absolutely be dangerous. But in the hands of someone who knows how to use it? Itās a tool that builds success.
You canāt just strap an e-collar on a dog and expect them to understand. Thereās an intentional training process behind itāone rooted in trust, clarity, and consistency.
Youāll never convince me that e-collars have no place in dog trainingāor that theyāre inhumane.
This is Huey, my bulldog mix. Through thoughtful e-collar training, heās now completely off-leashāand thriving.
No leash. No physical boundaries. Just freedom, earned through hard work and the right tools used the right way.
Look at himāhappy, healthy, confident. This isnāt fear. Itās freedom.
The truth? Properly done e-collar training doesnāt suppress dogsāit empowers them!

What do fearful, reactive, aggressive, dog-selective and social dogs all have in common?
They all benefit from structured Place work. š§ āØ
This isnāt just about teaching a dog to āstay.ā Itās about helping dogs regulate their emotions, develop impulse control, and learn how to simply exist in shared spaceāpeacefully.
Whether your dog is struggling with reactivity, learning to be neutral around others, or already social but needs more structure⦠the Place command is a powerful tool in any training plan.
These two dogs come from different behavioral backgrounds, and yet here they areācoexisting calmly and confidently through structure, guidance, and trust.
Training isnāt one-size-fits-all, but structure always has a place. Literally. š

What itās like traveling with a clientās dog on a training trip to Texas š¾āļø
Being a travel trainer comes with its own unique challengesādifferent from board & trains or in-person sessionsābut just as rewarding.
This week, I drove to Dallas for a travel training opportunity and decided to bring Boone, one of my recent board & train graduates, back home along the way. What shouldāve been a smooth trip turned into an adventureā¦
At 10:30pm, we ended up stranded on the side of the highway with a flat tire. Boone, who came to me for obedience and confidence-building, handled it like a pro. From loud tow trucks to zooming traffic to sleeping in the rental car overnightāhis training truly showed.
The next day, after a second tow and a new rental, Boone impressed everyone at the airport and car rental center. Multiple people commented on how calm and well-behaved he wasāeven comparing him to a service dog.
After a long trip, we finally made it to Texas, and Boone was reunited with his owner and housemate, Teagan.
Travel training isnāt always smoothābut it builds real-world resilience, for both dogs and trainers.

The Great Crate Debate!
Letās talk about it!
I hear it all the time:
āCrating is mean!ā
Meanwhileā¦the dog is chewing drywall, eating window sills, tearing up furniture, and more!
Let me ask you this:
Why are structure, boundaries, and rules considered cruel?
In my professional and humble opinion ā theyāre not!
Your dogās crate should be:
⢠A safe space
⢠A cozy place to rest
⢠A spot to enjoy meals
ā¦and itās definitely cheaper than an emergency surgery because your pup ate something it shouldnāt!
Want to learn how to crate train your dog the right way and help them feel confident and secure?
DM me to ask about:
⢠In-person training š¾
⢠Board & train š”
⢠Travel & train options āļø
Letās build structure that creates freedom!
