Morning coffee read: We known this as long as I can remember and every couple of years, the story crawls back. Bugs don’t bug me.
A neglected protein-rich 'superfood' Insects are a nutrition-dense source of protein embraced by much of the world. Why are some of us so squeamish about eating them?

Let’s talk about pizza. I’ve eaten a lot of pies including it’s birthplace Italy to New York (it’s second home) all the way Arizona and even Sydney. Every city proclaims they have the best. Oddly, Chris Bianco, in Phoenix touts legions of chefs as fans for his delicious disks with flour grown and milled within the southern western state. This brings me to slices made at Frankie’s Parlor, serving NY-style slices (and whole rounds) that can be rolled up and carried with one hand. While the toppings taste delicious - Charleen and Cheese in ‘Gram — the crust is breathtaking. Chewy with a bit of crumb on the border but, supple to bend and chew. I had to ask the two pizza-makers where they bought the dough. It’s Stagioni which is some of the finest to make a hand toss. Additionally, the kiosk belongs to Fountain Square-based Turchetti’s Salumeria, so eaters KNOW that’s artisanal, handcrafted pepperoni. (Oh! They also have a GF crust too!)

People often ask, “Well, why did you move to Indy?” In many ways the annual Sportcars Together Fest by Porsche displays the reason. Look for the logo. LOL. We attended on the last day at IMS arguably one of the world’s most famous race courses. Thousands of Porsches whirring their engines at Indy. My favorite was the off-roading track, as if, I’m taking my $100,000 SUV into the mud.

There’s something about Fisher’s, specifically The Yard at Fisher’s District and the array of dining options. I’ve been to the Test Kitchen several times now, but Nick hasn’t been to the area since we moved from LA. One of the great loves besides our four-legged kids are tacos and wouldn’t ya know, Sangrita Grill & Saloon, opened a a tortilla and tequila place during the pandemic. Yep, it’s the sister restaurant to the Broad Ripple flagship. With friends in tow — yep, we made a few in Indy — we dined on mahi mahi, fried oyster mushrooms (vegetarian), a house made chorizo with a quail egg, pork belly and asada. While they come on a flour tortilla, we ordered ours with corn for the GF (non-gluten). We dined outside and feasted on queso and chips to start, while the night air begins to feel like fall.

Morning coffee read: Sinead embodied everything I knew growing up in NYC. She was beautiful, talented, smart and a little left of center. She was the anti-Madonna during the 80s. This is a great piece.
Sinead O’Connor Remembers Things Differently The mainstream narrative is that a pop star ripped up a photo of the pope on “Saturday Night Live” and derailed her life. What if the opposite were true?

I8tonite: I’ve had pizza from San Francisco to Phoenix, New York to Napoleon, and Chicago to Maimi, but King Dough’s hand tossed pies rank as one of the best. Owned by a young couple, the former garage renovated into a pie parlor thankfully survived the pandemic. It’s in part to glorious toppings and also a dedication for us to serving gluten-free flours. There is something for everyone and that is what the world needs.
