As International Overdose Awareness Day approaches, I’d like to remind everyone that I’m always accepting stories for the Faces of Indy project. Faces of Indy is an ongoing collection of stories about Hoosiers who have lost their lives due to an overdose. My goal is to memorialize community members that we’ve lost and use this platform to share their stories. I also try to stress education and the importance of harm reduction services through these posts, as these are crucial in reducing the number of overdose deaths in our area. Thank you for reading and stay safe out there.

It was a honor to get to know Donna’s story. Her daughter, Carly, wrote such a moving passage. I am always so humbled to be trusted with the precious memories that are shared with me. Rest In Peace, Donna. You are dearly missed.

Please be careful! Alert staff if you see something suspicious and have each other’s backs!

Attention: still accepting submissions for Faces of Indy. If you’re located in Indiana and are comfortable sharing a loved one/friend’s* story who lost their battle to substance abuse, please contact me. I am extremely humbled when presented the opportunity to celebrate someone’s life while enforcing the idea that an addict was still a person with interests, feelings, and dreams while using. Thank you for reading.

*I only feel comfortable posting friends’ stories with permission from family.

I want to apologize for the inactivity on this page. I’m the only person who researches, edits posts, and keeps up with messages and questions. I’ve been dealing with some personal issues and all of this felt very overwhelming. However, I’m back and I’ll be posting as regularly as I can. I apologize for the radio silence!

Something to consider post March Madness. I’ve been seeing a lot of posts on here complaining about our houseless residents, especially downtown, so I thought I’d take some time to explain things.
