Our overall mission at the Northern Appalachian Research center is to provide for students, faculty and members of the community a enhanced understanding of our region's diverse culture. 2016 marks the jump off year for our research center.
Attention Students and Facility of Indiana University of Pennsylvania, it is the pleasure of the Northern Appalachian Center of Studies at IUP to announce the upcoming Folk Festival for Sept 9th,10th, and 11th 2016. The Northern Appalachian Folk Festival, held annually the weekend after Labor Day in Downtown Indiana, celebrates the art and culture of the region with free live music, exhibits and demonstrations, workshops and vendors. Currently the planning committee is searching out for potential volunteers who would be interested in assisting the maintenance and activities of the festival. The duties for volunteers will vary immensely, these jobs will include setting up tables, chairs and tents for artist and vendors, and also assisting visitors and committee members.
