🔍 Found During a Home Inspection
During a recent home inspection performed by InspectorCor Home Inspections, we identified concerns with the water heater flue pipe installation.
⚠️ The flue pipe shows improper configuration and support, including multiple offsets and questionable connections that may negatively impact proper draft. A compromised or poorly installed flue can allow combustion gases—including carbon monoxide—to spill back into the living space instead of venting safely to the exterior.
🚨 Proper venting is critical for gas-fired appliances. Flue systems should be correctly sized, properly supported, and installed per manufacturer’s instructions and current codes to ensure safe operation.
📌 Recommend further evaluation and correction by a licensed HVAC or plumbing professional.
This is why professional home inspections matter—venting issues are not always obvious but can pose serious safety risks if left uncorrected.

Found during a home inspection — a possum had made its way into the crawl space. Evidence of wildlife activity like this can indicate damaged or unsecured access points. Recommend having a pest control specialist safely remove the animal and sealing any entry areas to prevent future intrusion.

This past week was filled with First-Time Homebuyers who are understandably nervous. I reassure them as I walk through the process and explain what I’m looking for during the inspection….That’s the fun part about the job.

A radon test measures the level of radon gas in your home or building. Radon is a colorless, odorless radioactive gas that occurs naturally from the decay of uranium in soil, rock, and water. It can enter buildings through cracks in foundations or other openings. Long-term exposure to elevated radon levels is linked to an increased risk of lung cancer.
There are two main types of radon tests:
1. Short-term tests: These are typically conducted over a period of 2 to 7 days. They are the quickest way to measure radon levels, using devices like charcoal canisters, alpha-track detectors, or electret ion detectors.
2. Long-term tests: These tests measure radon levels for 90 days or longer and give a more accurate average of radon exposure over time.
If you’re concerned about radon levels in your home, you should hire a professional to conduct the test. If levels exceed 4 picocuries per liter (pCi/L), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recommends taking action to reduce the radon levels in your home.
