Miss Able
Miss Able, a Rhesus monkey, along with her sister astronaut Miss Baker, was the first U.S. animal to fly in space and return alive, May 28, 1959.
Miss Able was born on Monkey Island at the Ralph Mitchell Zoo in Independence, Kansas.

Today is the day: 60 years since Miss Able was launched into space! What a better way than to learn about everything Miss Able than a dedicated exhibit at the Independence Historical Museum and Art Center! You can see this exhibit from now until Saturday, June 8! You can also join Miss Able herself for a Blastoff Breakfast THIS SATURDAY at the Museum!
