Summer Feed Program Update!

The 5-day breakfast and lunch packs will start being distributing on Friday, July 17, 2026.

We will continue distributing the 5-day packs on the following dates:

Friday, July 24
Friday, July 31
Friday, August 7

Thank you, Iowa Department of Education, for approving the Independence Summer Feeding Program for this summer.

Starting on Friday, June 5th, the Lyle Leinbaugh Field/Track will be going through a turf replacement project. Due to this, the field and track will be closed for use until the middle of July.

There will be equipment and materials in and around the football complex including portions of the West Elementary Parking lot.

Mission Accomplished ✅

Independence Jr./Sr. High School proudly hosted our annual Indee Impact Career Day! This meaningful event highlighted the many college and career opportunities available to our students right here in our own community and surrounding areas.

Over 170 students participated alongside 35+ community partners, employers, and organizations who generously gave their time and expertise to invest in our students’ futures. Throughout the day, students in grades 9–11 engaged in classroom presentations, participated in a professional skills workshop in the auditorium facilitated by Central Rivers AEA staff, including Indee's own Karl Kurt, and connected with local employers during a career fair in the gymnasium.

Students also received a detailed event program and participated in a career-themed scavenger hunt during first period, encouraging them to explore and engage with each opportunity throughout the day. We wrapped up the event with a special ISASP celebration and prize drawings for students who completed the scavenger hunt.

Thanks to generous donations from local businesses including Subway, Scooter's Coffee, McDonald's, Indeelicious, and Pizza Ranch, students enjoyed free food, drinks, and gift card prizes throughout the celebration.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to our community members, employers, staff, volunteers, and students who helped make this event such a success. Days like these demonstrate the true strength of our community and what can happen when we come together to support, inspire, and prepare the next generation for their future.

Our community is on a mission to give back to our students!

On Monday, June 1, 2026, 319 Social House hosted the 3rd annual Guns vs. Hoses Bowling Tournament.

The proceeds raised are split between school districts to help clear up negative lunch balances.

We are so thankful for the continued generosity of our community!
