There’s a lot of “greenwashing” and “humanewashing” in our food system, and it’s hard to know what to believe. So many companies (especially the big, corporate ones) can simply slap a fancy label on their packages, write a sentence on sustainability, and develop a savvy marketing campaign that gives the appearance of transparency. But that doesn’t help any of us. It just further diminishes consumer trust.
At Fire Chief Beef we believe in real food, which means we want you to know where your food comes from, and what goes into it. Read the packaging for conventional meat at your grocery store. Can you tell where it came from? What the animals ate? Where and how they were raised? How would you know? Can you trust any of it? So many questions can make one’s head spin.
The good news is local, authentic, grassfed meat is simple by design. Our animals are grazed right here. That’s what makes us different. From beginning to end, we are committed to transparency and traceability. We have nothing to hide.
We’re driven by our connection to the land, animals, and our community. And, for us, that connection starts with eating real meat. With real ingredients and real transparency. That’s why we celebrate 100% grassfed as the REAL Burger of Earth Day™.

Too often, we hear that “meat is bad for the environment”. But not all meat is the same. These two photos may look similar, but these two systems (and the meat that is produced by them) are not.
For decades, industrial agriculture has influenced how consumers negatively perceive the production of meat, thanks to their role in contributing to air and water pollution, greenhouse emissions, overuse of antibiotics, and the inhumane treatment of animals. Although many people depend on this type of meat production to feed their families, the end products are simply not equal.
Fortunately, we understand the difference. The cattle we graze are an active and beneficial part of a larger ecosystem. They have plenty of room to roam outside, eating a natural diet of grass right here in Southwest Colorado. We don’t need chemical fertilizers, because our animals fertilize the soil. No chemicals, no feedlots, and no toxic waste cleanup required.
These two photos may both feature the same animal, but they are definitely not equal. Put your money where your values are and support your local, 100% authentic grassfed farmer for the REAL Burger of Earth Day™.

This year for Earth Day, we are celebrating how much we love our earth and grassfed meat!
At Fire Chief Beef, we don’t spend just one day a year thinking about our environment. Every day, we’re thinking about our environmental impact, and making decisions for today, next week, next year, and 100 years from now, to make sure that this ecosystem is not just continuing but thriving.
We know that 100% authentic grassfed meat is part of the solution to climate change and we’re proud to raise beef that’s good for the earth, animals, communities, and our taste buds.
For grassfed ranchers like us, every day is Earth Day.
