Meet Lynard. A senior who finally knows what it feels like to be loved. 🐶

The nature of rescue is that every dog who crosses our path needs something: medical care, TLC, socialization, patience, or simply someone willing to say, “You matter.”

Sadly, there are more dogs who need help than any rescue has the resources to save. But every once in a while, a dog comes along who pulls so deeply at our hearts that we know we have to say YES.

Lynard was that dog.

His body tells the story of long-term neglect, and we don’t know how long he was on his own or what he endured. But one thing was clear: he needed us.

Thanks to the support of the The Grey Muzzle Organization Incubator Grant, we were able to say YES to Lynard. Truthfully, we would have found a way to say yes to this boy no matter what. ❤️

And what have we learned about him?

It’s obvious Lynard didn’t have people who loved him in his past, but you’d never know it from the way he loves people today. And those puppy-dog eyes? 🥹

We swear he’s aging in reverse! Look at the difference in our boy already. 😭

We’re giving Lynard everything he needs to heal and reach his full potential, including sending off a DNA test to help us better understand our mystery boy and care for him in the best way possible. 🧬

Right now, we have several dogs who simply need a temporary place to land, decompress, grow, heal, and be loved until they leave on transport. And this is only our short and immediate list, we always have a need for fosters!

And remember: Fostering doesn’t have to be forever. Sometimes, you just have to be the safe place that gets a dog from here to home.

We are absolutely overwhelmed, in the best way, by the response from our community. ❤️

So far, we have received 231 applications representing more than 900 individual pets seeking spay/neuter appointments for our upcoming Namaste Day on October 3rd!

That incredible response also means that all appointment spots will be filled before we are able to process every application we’ve received.

Our team will be reviewing applications and contacting applicants sometime this week to let you know your status and whether you received an appointment for October 3rd.

And if you don’t receive an October 3rd appointment, please don’t feel discouraged. Your application still matters.

The number of applications we received is a powerful demonstration of just how significant the need for accessible spay/neuter services is in our community. Because of this overwhelming response, we want to continue working with veterinary and community partners to identify additional opportunities to help get more pets altered.

Walter’s story is just beginning! 📖

Senior dogs like Walter are getting a second chance, not because their age suddenly became less important, but because someone decided their age shouldn’t determine their future.

When Walter came to Luna Farms, we knew he might be harder to place and that his needs could be greater. But instead of asking, “Is he too old?” we asked:

“What does Walter need and how do we get him there?”

That question is at the heart of Senior Encore Pups. 🐶

And today, we’re incredibly excited to share that Luna Farms Rescue has been selected to receive an Incubator Grant from The Grey Muzzle Organization! 🎉

This funding will help us grow and strengthen Senior Encore Pups! Allowing us to provide more senior dogs with the veterinary care, recovery time, placement support, and individualized planning they need to safely move into their next chapter.

The Grey Muzzle Organization’s Incubator Grant program helps organizations build their capacity to serve senior dogs and strengthens the lifesaving network of senior-dog programs across the country.

We are incredibly grateful to The Grey Muzzle Organization and its supporters for investing in this work and for believing in dogs like Walter.

Because getting older shouldn’t mean running out of chances.

It shouldn’t mean being overlooked.
It shouldn’t mean being left behind.
And it certainly shouldn’t mean their story is over.

What if we could prevent tomorrow’s unwanted litters today?

This October, Luna Farms Rescue is joining the Jason Heigl Foundation for Namaste Day 2026! A community spay and neuter event created to help families get their beloved pets fixed and prevent unintended litters before they happen. 🐶🐱💕

Our goal is BIG:

✨ Approximately 50 dogs and cats spayed or neutered in ONE day.

These aren’t shelter pets. They’re beloved family pets who will go right back home to the people who love them, just without the possibility of contributing to another unplanned litter.

And that matters.

Because every litter we prevent means fewer puppies and kittens entering an already overwhelmed shelter and rescue system.

That’s prevention. And prevention changes what happens tomorrow. 🐾

As celebratory adoption photos begin to trickle in for some of the babies we sent on transport last week, we can’t help but think about the 17 little faces we kissed goodbye. 🥹🐾

Last week, 17 dogs left Luna Farms Rescue on 2 transports, headed to 5 different rescue partners, each one carrying a story, a past, and most importantly, the hope of a future filled with love.

When they left, we didn’t know exactly when their forever families would find them. We simply sent them off with a promise: your story is still being written.

And now, those stories are beginning to unfold ❤️

Every adoption photo that comes our way makes the endless hours of paperwork, networking, coordinating, arranging transport and making countless phone calls worth every single minute.

Because behind every photo of a dog sleeping in their forever home is a whole network of people who refused to give up on them.

And we cannot wait for those happy adoption photos to start pouring in 📸🐶

Pardon me… excuse me… hi! We’re new here 🐶

Nice to meet you! 👋🏼

We were told we’ve been rescued, though we’re not quite sure what that means yet. We were taken from the place we thought was home in a big box that moved really fast. 🚗💨

When the box stopped, we were carried inside to a big, loud place with so many dogs barking all at once. It was pretty scary. Then some nice two-leggeds put us in another moving box and brought us here.

And you know what? It seems like they were expecting us. They had a big, clean pen all ready and waiting just for us.

This place doesn’t seem so bad. ❤️

There are fewer dogs. There are lots of hooman snuggles. And the resident doggies told us something very important:

They said the food here NEVER runs out. 🍽️

But we have a little question. 🤔 We’re young. We’re still learning. And when we walked past the food shelves, we didn’t see much there.

We don’t mean to be a bother, but** how does this rescue thing work if there’s no food to feed us?** 🥺

Should we be worried?

Maybe we should take matters into our own paws. 🐾

Because now that we know what it’s like to have full bellies, we really, really don’t want to go hungry again.

We hate to be a bother, but would you please help some hungry puppies out?

Clearly, these nice two-leggeds had NO idea how much food it takes to keep growing puppy bellies full. 😂

And please keep this between us. 🤫 We’d hate for the hoomans to figure out that it was the newby puppies doing all this begging.

Meet Cedar! 🌲

7-month-old Cedar is a Malamute/Australian Shepherd mix with a heart just as special as his unique markings. 🐾

Cedar and his siblings were discovered in the back forty of a flower farm in southern Tennessee, where they were surrounded by flowers, farm animals, children and plenty of opportunities to learn how to be good canine citizens. 🌸🐶🐐🐓 Two adult Great Pyrenees even helped raise and socialize the puppies!

While Cedar may be a little more stoic and calm than his siblings, don’t mistake his quiet nature for a lack of fun. This boy loves to play, is highly food motivated and absolutely lights up when there’s water involved! 💦

Cedar is wonderful with children and other dogs, and he’s curious about the world around him. He’s ready to find someone who will give him all the love, adventures and companionship he deserves. ❤️
