Huntsville House Rabbits

This tiny sweetheart is Puffin and she’s boarding with our rescue this week! 🩷 We do occasionally board bunnies with our fosters, space permitting, which helps fund our rescue bunny vet bills. If we’re full, we are happy to make suggestions for pet sitters and bunny boarding!

This is a wild bunny (Eastern Cottontail)! Domestic rabbits are so very different from these sweet bunnies. If you see a bunny who looks like the one pictured, nature is where that bunny belongs, however—if you see a plump, usually larger, differently colored rabbit, that bunny does not belong outside. Most of our foster rabbits come to us after being dumped outside, sadly.
In the past two weeks, we’ve seen a huge uptick in people wanting to rehome a pet rabbit, and reaching out to us for tips. This is a great victory—dumping is never the answer, and asking for help is so much better. We do everything we can to help, although our rescue is very full and too full to directly take in owner surrenders currently (as are most rescues).

Jonah loves hidey houses! He got so excited with a new cardboard box hidey house, that he started zooming and binkying!

Rembrandt & Picasso are such sweeties! We get questions about bonding bunnies: does it make them less friendly? No, not necessarily! These two boys are proof—they are social and sweet and very interactive. They are currently hoping their forever home is around the corner, and enjoying life with their loving foster family!

Although we post often about how domestic rabbits need indoor homes, we get questions all the time about putting bunnies outside. We do not recommend that for safety and health reasons. Indoors is always best for the good of your bunny!
