We first owned my family’s bakery in Queens for 10 years and then the last 30 years here in Huntington. Today is the first day in May the bakery is open. That means it is the first day of our May Sweet Treats. Themed for Mothers Day is our Carnation Cupcake, Orange Quickbread; perfect for Sunday brunch, Frangipan Pear Pastry and great dessert for the whole family, Nutella cream Chocolate ring.

Wow! The all vegetable quiche just came out of the oven. The smell is saying "let's have lunch!" We have spinach, broccoli and zucchini red pepper. No time now but I will be having one tonite paired with a plate of mushroom soup.

Today is Fat Tuesday in New Orleans, Carnival in Rio and Cologne and in Munich, Bavaria it is Fasching Dienstag. To celebrate our Bavarian heritage we have the Fastnacht kichler (lenten donut) and Hot Cross Buns. Customers say we should make the lenten donuts all year but I feel Holidays make the year special. So come in and try this limited offering.
Next Wednesday is Ash Wednesday. That means tomorrow we will be having Fastnachts donuts for the first time this year. Also this weekend is last weekend for February specials. The above pictured cherry cream torte has been a big hit. Hope to see some of you this Sunday.
Do you know anyone that would like a full-time morning job at our retail bakery? Do you like working with people? How about meeting people from the Huntington community on a daily basis? Are you passionate about food? Reinwalds has a convenient shoulder shift available. Hours would be 8am to 3pm and one weekend day. Weekend hours are flexible as earlier or later than 8am. We would love to talk to you if this sounds interesting to you. Perhaps you have a friend or family member that this could work for.
