Project Excel is a specialized project under the
Huntington Youth Bureau (HYB) Institute.

Project Excel provides comprehensive programming for youth in areas of academics, career exploration, employment, and artistic development. Project Excel has four primary areas of focus:
College & Career Services and Educational Programming
Youth Employment Services
Visual and Performing Arts and
Life Skills Programming

Registration is now open for Summer at Excel with Project Excel!

For youth ages 11–16 residing in the Township of Huntington, this program offers exciting enrichment activities, weekly trips and snacks every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. This program is the perfect way to build skills, make friends and have fun. Space is limited, so secure a spot today!

*Please note, due to age differences, any 16-year-old youth who would be entering 11th grade in the Fall 2026, would not be allowed to be in the program.

Program Sessions:
Session 1: July 7th – July 28th
Session 2: July 30th – August 20th

Registration and Fees:
A parent or legal guardian must register their child and fill out all necessary permission forms.
Payment in full is due at the time of registration.
There is a $40.00 non-refundable registration fee per youth (covers program supplies and snacks).
Note: Refunds/credits are issued only if Project Excel cancels a trip due to inclement weather or if fewer than 5 youth sign up for a trip.

Project Excel's 27th Annual Huntington Youth Writes Award Ceremony.

Congratulations to all our talented winners! Your creativity is what makes this contest so special every year. We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to the parents and families for supporting these young writers and to the schools and administrators for encouraging your students to enter the contest. A big thanks to our judges for their time and effort in reviewing every entry and to our generous sponsors for their support. Lastly, we want to thank our sponsors for making the event so special.
We are especially grateful to Councilwoman Theresa Mari and Councilwoman Jennifer Hebert for joining us to celebrate our winners and helping us announce the winners. Finally, thank you to Town Supervisor Ed Smyth, the Town Board and the Town Council. Your continued support of Project Excel and the youth of Huntington makes all the difference!

2026 Donald A. Pius Memorial Scholarship Opportunity!

The Donald A. Pius Memorial Scholarship is awarded to graduating seniors from the Town of Huntington who are pursuing college or vocational trade education. The program awards a minimum of five scholarships, each valued at $2,500 and renewable for up to four years.

Calling All Student Artists in the Township of Huntington! 🎨

Project Excel is thrilled to announce our latest collaboration with Chick-fil-A Huntington for the "Huntington Youth Creates" exhibition! 🐔✨
This year’s theme is “Coloring our Community.” we want to see the Huntington community through your eyes. We are looking for talented youth artists to showcase their work in a featured rotating gallery at Chick-fil-A starting mid-April 2026!
