⚠ FORECAST UPDATE (6/12) - A wave of storms is trying to approach, but it's falling apart. It will revitalize in the afternoon heat, though mainly in our east/mts by then.👇

Because this wave doesn't look like it has what it takes to fully plow through the area, I'm not expecting much of a drawback of the heat yet, though Saturday morning should feel better for the morning joggers than it's been. Sunday afternoon the next wave/front approaches, and that one does look like it has the juice, so I'm expecting a more common smattering of storms as well as a more bonafide dial-back of this humidity come Monday.

High pressure visits for a bit Monday and Tuesday, and while I still expect a brief straggler of a shower or two on Monday these should be the best two days we've got going for a while. Actually, most of the next week ahead looks to be an easier go of it for the outdoor work crews.

I do have my suspicions though about next Thursday, as another wave of storms looks to come through. If this happens as scheduled though, I think a lot of folks would accept this trade-off as it would clear out in time to make the weekend that follows better than it otherwise would be... Until the heat comes back at least!

Will pass in minutes, but will be a problem as it passes.

It will feel like triple-digits out there (something to actually sample and file away for future days when you might be planning a trip and seeing it again in the forecast). Stay hydrated out there, and make trips back into the confines of the A-C 🥵. Given the heat build-up, I'm expecting some towering thunderstorms to develop as well. Not many, but they will likely be loud.

A [not-so]cold front crosses tomorrow. This will again elevate the risk for severe weather and for spot flooding, but at least take the edge off the heat and set the stage for a PRETTY GOOD weekend -- especially Saturday afternoon if you're making plans. For weaklings like me, know that the rainwater falling Friday will make that swimming pool chilly 😬

Another front crosses on Sunday (later in the day). This will actually do the job of sweeping away the high humidity for a little bit, but as a consequence we'll have to respect the possibility of more decent storms coming through (gotta pay for it somehow).

Monday afternoon and Tuesday look to be our most comfortable weather. Taking engagement pictures at the Capitol building? Looks pretty good to me.

The next system is projected to come through Thursday beyond that, but now we're getting into pretty far-out-there territory. Just know the 'usual' will apply, where after a nice stretch of weather the heat and humidity eventually build back up again, either to fuel the next hot stretch or the rise of storms. Fortunately though extreme heat seems to be off the table for a while 🤞

⚠ FORECAST UPDATE (6/9) - The air is pretty moisture-rich today, so any thunderstorms that will be prowling around have the potential to bring flooding downpours👇

Clouds will be smeared around as well, but don't expect the shade to feel 'cool', as the humidity is quite stuffy and any break in the clouds will spike the feels to the 90s. Golfers, hikers, and campers will need to have their weather app handy to make sure they know where these storms are at so they have time to react.

Wednesday will have scattered storms in it too, mainly in hits and misses. Thursday's storm coverage will be more sparse-- but that also translates into a more prominent heat. Be ready if that's your day for prolonged outdoor activity.

A front will cross on Friday, which should do the trick of resolving a good chunk of this humidity in time for the weekend, but I'm concerned about paying the Piper, so to speak. There should be an elevated risk of severe weather (and spot flooding) as that line goes through. Keep tabs on Friday's weather.

But SATURDAY on the other hand, should feature some of the BEST weather in the afternoon by consequence. High pressure glides through and lasts long enough to even give Sunday a good bit of excellence before the next wave of humidity and scattered storms come through. Right now this figures to be Sunday evening through Monday morning next week.

The best times to see it are around May 29th and July 11th, but the days in-between can work if you happen to be in the city.
