Thank you to the Suffolk Alliance for Pollinators for hosting a Plant Swap early this week at the library.
It was a wonderful event where attendees swapped plants for new varieties to enjoy throughout the summer. Participants also had the opportunity to learn about native plants and the significant benefits they provide to our ecosystem.
Plant swaps are a fun and easy way to acquire new plants for your home or garden, while also offering a great way to meet fellow enthusiasts and expand your botanical knowledge.
Thank you to the Xerces Society for attending and sharing important information about supporting pollinator plants.

Please join us for a patriotic cooking demonstration with Pitmaster Brian Collins, featuring recipes perfect for your 4th of July barbecue. Brian will demonstrate how to prepare a coffee-and-pepper marinated steak. You will learn how coffee tenderizes the meat to create a spicy, earthy flavor profile. He will also prepare a coffee-bourbon sauce, Mexican street corn, and a "Red, White, and Blueberry" trifle.
A tasting will follow the demonstration.
The program is for HPL patrons only. It will open to all beginning on Tuesday, June 23 if space allows. There is a $5 fee for this program.
