Have any of you used any of the Festool sanders? If so which is your favorite?

Yesterday we were sanding and restoring teak brightwork on a classic Post Sportfish. Today we’re outside turning a failing concrete slab into approximately 4,000 pounds of very expensive gravel.

Some companies “specialize.”

Meanwhile at Anker Services, one of us is researching marine varnish systems at 6am while the other is operating a rotary hammer like she has unresolved issues with concrete personally.

And honestly, that’s kind of the whole spirit of this business.

We’ve somehow become the people you call when your boat needs brightwork restoration, your garden wall collapses, your driveway looks like tectonic plates shifting, or your house needs painting, soft washing, detailing, repairs, carpentry, or what I can only describe as “a second chance.”

It’s dirty. It’s chaotic. There’s usually at least one Milwaukee battery charging in the truck that nobody remembered plugging in.

But we love it.

Also, in an industry still packed with guys named Rick who think “customer service” means not smoking indoors, I’d like to point out that Anker Services is woman owned... and our owner is an absolute badass.

I’ve watched Linsey carry lumber, run equipment, outwork people twice her size, and then somehow still remember to answer client emails politely while I’m standing there staring at a pile of debris like a Civil War photographer.

Anyway, tomorrow’s schedule currently includes boats, concrete, landscaping, and probably at least one unforeseen disaster held together temporarily with blue tape and optimism.

Just another normal week over here.

When I was a kid, other children were outside developing social skills or getting hit in the face with baseballs. Meanwhile, I was sitting on the carpet with a pair of dull scissors, carefully cutting Post Yacht ads out of *Yachting Magazine* like a tiny, middle-aged divorce attorney.

Not just any boat either. A Post. A non production built to order, 50' Post. I have no clue why 50' the 46' is just as stunning and un attainable for a 10 year old.

To me, a 50’ Post wasn’t a yacht. It was a floating cathedral with Detroit Diesels. The kind of thing a man owned after mysteriously “doing well in commodities.” Every ad had the same slightly overexposed photos: teak shining like a church pew, outriggers spread wide like the boat had just heard gossip, and a captain standing at the helm with the posture of someone avoiding eye contact with the IRS.

I loved them with the kind of intensity usually reserved for first crushes and cult leaders.

Fast forward a few decades, and somehow life has brought me aboard this beautiful 46’ Post I’m working on now. And standing there sanding teak toe rails while holding three different sanders that cost more then a couple cars I've owned all while questioning my lower back, I realized something strange:

This was it.

Not the Wall Street version. Not the linen pants, yacht club and martini version.

But the real thing.

The little kid with magazine clippings grew up to be the guy bringing the boat back to life.

Honestly, I think I like this version better anyway.

This hull just went through the full correction process:
• 2-stage polish to remove oxidation & restore depth
• Clay bar treatment to strip embedded contaminants
• Rupes nano protection to lock in that gloss and fight the elements

Now it’s reflecting the dock like a sheet of glass.

If your boat is starting to look chalky, faded, or just not hitting like it used to… this is your sign.
