Hi Friends! I'm going to be posting helpful tips on this account to help you in your every day tech life. Todays tip is:

PUBLIC WIFI

Scenario: You get to your favorite Starbucks/coffee shop and you get a notification that *FREE* Wi-Fi is available. Your first instinct is, "Ohh, Wi-Fi, I should connect!"

The answer in this situation is no, never connect.

Public Wi-Fi is a great way for you to become a victim of cybertheft. Would be bad actors also operate on these networks, and since these networks lack any kind of security or authentication, they can see anyone else's devices with ease. There are plenty of tools out there that give these bad actors ways to backdoor into your device and potentially acquire your personal data. In this day and age, your best bet is to use your data plan on your phone. If you are on a metered data plan, my advice is to wait to watch that giant YouTube video until you get home.
