The best adventures start with a strong foundation.
At Canine Learning Academy, our students regularly practice real life skills through thoughtfully planned field trips and positive learning experiences. These outings give dogs opportunities to explore new environments, navigate distractions, build confidence, and learn how to stay connected with their handlers in the world around them.
Whether it is a family gathering, a patio outing, a community event, or a future vacation, we believe dogs benefit from having opportunities to learn and grow through real life experiences at their own pace.
Every outing is a chance to build confidence, strengthen communication, and support the relationship between dogs and their families.

Dogs have a way of bringing us back to what matters most
In the middle of busy schedules, stress, and everything life asks of us, they remind us to slow down, be present, and appreciate the small moments. Their trust, joy, and connection are such a gift.
At Canine Learning Academy, we believe the relationship between dogs and their families deserves to be nurtured with kindness, patience, and understanding. Because the bond we build with them becomes part of how we move through life together.
We are so grateful to share that journey with our community and the incredible dogs we get to love every day.

June Enrichment Challenge is here!
As we close out the month of May, we wanted to share a variety of summer enrichment ideas you can try at home. Summer is the perfect time to keep your dog’s brain and body active in fun, simple ways. Enrichment does not have to be complicated. Small daily activities can help your dog build confidence, practice problem solving, use their natural instincts, and settle more easily throughout the day.
This month’s challenge includes:
1. Frozen food puzzles
2. Backyard scent searches
3. New surface exploration
4. Name that toy
5. Shady training sessions
6. Cardboard box games
7. Calm observation
8. Water play introductions
9. Treat scatter resets
10. Trick of the week
Enrichment is not just about tiring your dog out. It helps your dog think, problem solve, gain confidence, and practice calm behavior.
Try the challenge and tag us in your photos so we can celebrate your dog’s progress!

More than training. It’s a lifestyle.
Brotherly love
Meet Hercules and Titan, two brothers learning and growing together at Canine Learning Academy.
Bringing home two puppies from the same litter is not always the easiest path. Littermates can become overly dependent on one another, struggle with confidence independently, and have a harder time developing important life skills on their own.
That does not mean it cannot be done thoughtfully and successfully.
When raising littermates, it is especially important to create opportunities for individual learning, confidence building, training sessions, rest, and one on one experiences separate from each other. Helping each puppy build their own relationship with the world, and with their family, can make a huge difference long term.
We are so excited to support Hercules and Titan on their journey together while also helping them grow into thoughtful, confident individuals.
And fun fact… we currently have another set of brothers from the same litter in school too.
Need support raising siblings or navigating puppyhood with your dogs? We are here to help every step of the way.

Do you have a new puppy at home?
This is Bodhi, one of our puppy students enrolled in our All Day School program.
At All Day School, we support puppies and their families through the early stages of learning and development with thoughtful guidance, structure, and force free training.
Bodhi’s school days include training, practicing foundational skills, enrichment, confidence building, socialization, play, and rest throughout the day because puppies need opportunities to learn, explore, recover, and relax too.
Through real life learning and positive experiences, puppies begin building the skills that help them grow into thoughtful, confident family dogs.
We also offer additional programs and support to help guide dogs and their families through every stage of development, including the teenage and adolescent phases that can often feel overwhelming for pet parents.
Every dog learns at their own pace, and we are here to help support that process one thoughtful repetition at a time.

This kind of calm behavior does not happen by accident
Dogs are not automatically comfortable relaxing around crowds, movement, sounds, and distractions. These skills are built gradually through thoughtful training, positive experiences, and real life practice.
At Canine Learning Academy, we focus on helping dogs build confidence at their own pace through support, structure, and positive reinforcement so they can learn how to navigate the world more comfortably and successfully.
These moments may look simple, but they are the result of relationship building, foundation skills, and many small successful experiences over time.
What real life skill are you currently working on with your dog?

Today, we pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.
Memorial Day is a reminder to slow down, reflect with gratitude, and appreciate the freedoms and moments we get to share with the people, families, and dogs we love most. Their courage and sacrifice will never be forgotten.
From all of us at Canine Learning Academy, we are sending love, gratitude, and remembrance to the heroes and families whose sacrifice made those moments possible.
Wishing everyone a safe and meaningful Memorial Day.

Real life skills are built one experience at a time
Field trips give dogs opportunities to practice real life skills, build confidence, and learn how to navigate the world in a safe, supportive way. We love getting to watch students like Mabel and Tucker learn and explore together.

Training should feel collaborative, not confrontational
Two toy trade is a positive reinforcement training game that teaches dogs to willingly let go of one toy in exchange for another. Instead of forcing a release, dogs learn that disengaging and re engaging with their handler leads to another safe, rewarding, and fun experience.
This type of play can help support engagement, focus, impulse control, and cooperation while also giving dogs an appropriate outlet for natural instincts like chasing, tugging, and interacting with toys.
For many dogs, interactive games like this also help strengthen the relationship with their handler because learning becomes something collaborative and enjoyable rather than frustrating or stressful.
At Canine Learning Academy, we believe training should help dogs feel safe, motivated, and excited to learn. Through positive reinforcement, play based learning, and real life skill development, we focus on building thoughtful, confident dogs and strong relationships with their families.

Your dog’s brain needs exercise too
Sniffing activities like this give dogs an opportunity to engage with their natural instincts through searching, exploring, and problem solving in a rewarding way.
These types of activities can help support confidence, focus, emotional wellness, and thoughtful engagement with the environment around them.
The best part is that activities like this can be easy to recreate at home using safe household objects, treats, toys, towels, boxes, or cones.
At Canine Learning Academy, we believe learning is about more than obedience. Through enrichment, positive reinforcement, and real life experiences, we help support the whole dog both emotionally and behaviorally.
