PREVENT DON’T REGRET.

As temperatures rise, now is the time to test your K9 heat alarm system and make sure your partner stays protected.

Before your next shift, take a few minutes to inspect and test:

✔ Heat alarm function

✔ Vehicle battery condition and voltage

✔ Automatic window drop function

✔ Fan and ventilation systems

✔ Temperature monitoring devices

✔ Emergency fail-safe systems

✔ Document your inspection

It only takes a few seconds to test your heat alarm, but those few seconds could save a life.

Protect the dog that protects your community.

K9 Ender’s legacy reminds us that safety equipment is only effective when it is routinely tested, maintained, and verified before it is needed.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐫 𝐢𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐚 𝐤𝐞𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐥

Working dogs already spend hours in a patrol vehicle during their shift. When the workday ends, they deserve a safe place to rest, recover, and simply be a dog.

Air conditioners can fail.
Batteries can fail.
Equipment can fail.

That is why Throw Away Dogs Project
K9 Ender’s Legacy is dedicated to raising awareness about vehicle safety, proper housing, routine equipment testing, and protecting the dogs who protect us.

Because every K9 deserves to come home.

That’s it??? Nothing on how they died?
Were they taken to the vet?
Was an autopsy done?

Throw Away Dogs Project
𝗞𝟵 𝗘𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 - 𝗟𝗲𝗴𝗮𝗰𝘆 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀

A heat alarm is a critical piece of safety equipment.

But alarms fail.
Air conditioners fail.
Batteries fail.
People forget.

That is why supervisor oversight matters.

Regular reviews, documented testing, maintenance checks, and accountability at every level help ensure that no K9 is left vulnerable in a patrol vehicle.

𝐓𝐫𝐮𝐬𝐭, 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐟𝐲.

A few minutes spent reviewing records, confirming inspections, and ensuring safety systems are functioning properly can make the difference between a routine shift and a preventable tragedy.

Every K9 deserves the same commitment to safety that they give to us every day.

In memory of K9 Ender and every working dog lost to preventable heat-related incidents, we encourage agencies to make K9 vehicle safety a shared responsibility.

Because every K9 deserves to come home.
