Any level of experience is welcome, whether you're a seasoned bench jeweler or just getting started in the craft. What matters most is a genuine passion for the work and an eye for detail.

This is an in-person role, so you'll need to be local to the greater Charlotte area.

Seems like a lot of you found us recently, so let's do proper introductions.

Rustic & Main started in 2016 in a garage in Charlotte, NC. Mike making rings, and his wife Summer helping with customers one at a time. Ten years and thousands of rings later, that garage is now a workshop of craftsmen and craftswomen, still building every piece by hand.

Our specialty: rings built from whatever already means something to you. Whiskey barrel wood. Elk antler. Meteorite. A grandfather's dog tags. Send us the material, we'll turn it into something you wear every day.

I've seen a few 9/11 posts with comments that have stuck with me. One person said, "Sept. 11, 2001, is when America lost its innocence." Another said, "It was the day the '90s truly ended."⁠

They both hit home.⁠
⁠
On the one hand, America, as a nation, has experienced a revolution, a civil war, two world wars, and many other wars that should have stripped us of our innocence. But I'm reminded that each generation has its own unique perspective on the world, and if you grew up in the '80s and '90s, there was a sense of security from the unexpected dangers that other, lesser countries regularly experienced. Sure, there was always some conflict happening or about to happen, but random attacks on civilians, especially on a mass scale, were something new.⁠

In the 25 years that have passed, 100 million Americans have been born. A few generations with their own perspective on the security and insecurity of their America. Talking to them about 9/11 must be what the Greatest Generation felt like when they would talk to us about Pearl Harbor.⁠

Now, in order for 9/11 to cross the boundary from shared memory to inherited history, as Pearl Harbor did, we must continue to share our stories the way our grandparents did.⁠
