This tick has been hanging around for us to show people for a while. After months in a sealed container with no additional feeding she laid eggs. This gives you an idea of how long a tick can be dormant and how many eggs one female can lay. Remember ticks bloom again in the fall so keep up with prevention.

NOTE; Apparently the use of the word "pack of coyotes" and "they lure" (just edited out) seems to be inaccurate, even though, some said they have seen it happen. Just be safe with your furbabies. Contact your local government wildlife conservation for more information.
The next 4-6 weeks is mating season for coyotes. Please do not let your dogs out alone, the outcome is tragic as they can & will attack/kill your pets. Just be aware it can happen to your beloved pet.

This is from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation's website. "Coyote breeding typically peaks in late February and early March, the gestation period averages 58 to 63 days. Male coyotes can become more aggressive during this time of year, the long and short of it all is that coyotes always pose a risk to your dog (and other small pets). That risk increases during mating season.
Coyotes can and do prey on domestic cats and small dogs. Most coyote attacks on pets occur either at night or in the early evening or morning hours (dusk and dawn). To protect your pets, do not allow them to roam freely. Keep cats indoors. Free-roaming cats are at a high risk of being preyed on by coyotes and other animals. Walk small dogs on a short leash that is less than six feet, especially at night, dusk or dawn. Be extra careful if you are going to walk your pet in wooded areas or areas that have heavy foliage, where coyotes may rest."

Another reason to SHELTER IN PLACE until flood waters recede. Not only are there downed power lines, but there’s also displaced wildlife. This 10-12 ALLIGATOR was just outside of a house in Gulf Shores on Plash Island earlier this morning.

4 pm tropical update: Forecast track shift slightly to the west for TD 14. TS Laura has also shifted west. Very early still according to the National Weather Service to make a determination on exact area of landfall.

Both storms will be a major topic of concern over the next 7 days. Please stay tuned to the forecast and any updates this weekend.

Preparation this weekend will be key. Early next week anything could happen with these two storms.

Fulltilt weather

Friday afternoon forcast for 1/10/20

This has went from dangerous to extremely dangerous. I'm currently expecting the line to fire between 4 and 5 o'clock in the afternoon right over the Dallas Fort Worth metroplex. This line at that point will be capable of 2 to 3 inc hail small to large and violent long track tornadoes, and high winds are all possible.

Moving into the 5 to 8 o'clock hour Most of the whole Eastern portion of Texas will be under a severe risk for long track tornadoes,or Hurricane force winds, and some isolated hail are all possible.

there does appear to be a chance of discrete cells firing between Houston, and Tyler Texas moving northeast in front of the quasar liner line if this becomes a reality these are large tornado threats. The line at that point should be capable of larger tornadoes and hurricanes force winds between 60 to 90 mph is possible.

As we move into the 8 to 12 o'clock hour the line should be approaching Texas Louisiana border and nearly halfway through portions of Arkansas. At that point the line will be capable of spin up tornadoes and hurricanes force winds is possible.

The graph showing the outline if you live in that area as I do you need to prepare. The chances of large violent long track tornadoes are way too high to not be ready.

Anybody asking about the Louisiana area the Eastern portion of Louisiana into far Western Mississippi is where the line is expected to re fire up out of a spin up tornado cycle into violent tornadoes again.

Over all for Arkansas the tornado risk has diminished some, but there will still be a chance for tornadoes. But this is not near as dire a situation for Arkansas as it is for Texas Louisiana and Mississippi. I'm not expecting catastrophic weather across Arkansas, but a few tornadoes is more than likely this may be accompanied by one or two potentially strong tornados are possible.

Concerned about your bees in this dry weather? Feeding them with watermelon can help. Plenty of moisture and sugar content for them.

Why drive to Austin to see the bats? Tonight at 8pm on the west side of the TDCJ Walls Unit is one of Texas largest bat colonies. For a solid 20 minutes thousands of bats exited the old TDCJ Cotton Warehouse.
