Hudson Fire Shines on the National Stage!
Last weekend, a group of Hudson Fire firefighters and paramedics traveled to San Diego on their own time to compete in the 2026 Police and Fire USA Championships. This prestigious event brings together police officers, firefighters, and first responders from across the nation to compete in a wide variety of athletic competitions. Many large agencies participate each year, including departments such as Los Angeles Fire Department.
Our members competed in the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu events and represented Hudson Fire with incredible skill, determination, and professionalism. We are proud to report that they brought home:
-3 Gold Medals
-1 Silver Medal
-1 Bronze Medal
These outstanding accomplishments are a testament to the hard work, discipline, and dedication our firefighters and paramedics demonstrate both on and off duty. Not only did they compete against some of the best first responders in the country, but they also helped put our small department on the map at a national level.
Please join us in congratulating these members on their tremendous success and for representing Hudson Fire Protection District with pride, honor, and excellence.
Congratulations, and thank you for making our community proud!

Wildland Team Deployment to Northern California
Please join us in wishing Battalion Chief Peterson, Engineer Mullis, and Firefighter Mills a safe deployment as they travel to Northern California to preposition and assist with any wildfires that may occur.
These aid agreements are extremely important because they allow fire departments across the country to help our fellow Americans during times of need. Just as we are sending resources to assist today, these same agreements ensure that help will be available to our community if we ever face a major wildfire or other large-scale emergency here at home.
Deployments like this also provide our personnel with invaluable real-world experience in wildfire suppression, incident management, and command tactics that they can bring back and share with the rest of our department, strengthening our capabilities and preparedness.
As part of this agreement, the federal government reimburses the Hudson Fire for all personnel and equipment costs associated with the deployment, as well as the overtime costs required to maintain full staffing levels while these members are away.
Thank you to Battalion Chief Peterson, Engineer Mullis, and Firefighter Mills for your willingness to serve wherever you are needed. We appreciate your dedication and commitment to protecting lives and property.
Safe travels and safe deployment, gentlemen! We look forward to welcoming you home.

Last Friday, we had a great time attending the Fourway Baptist Church Vacation Bible School lunch! Our crews enjoyed spending time with the kids, sharing important fire safety information, and answering questions about the fire service.
Of course, no summer event would be complete without a fun water spray-down from our ladder truck to help everyone cool off on a warm day!
A special thank you to our C-Shift Station 1 crew for representing Hudson Fire Protection District at this event. We are proud to serve such an amazing community and appreciate opportunities like this to connect with our residents.
Thank you to Fourway Baptist Church for inviting us, we had a blast and look forward to seeing everyone again soon!

A Night of Celebration for Hudson Fire EMS!
Last night at our Board of Directors meeting, we had the privilege of celebrating several incredible milestones for our EMS Division.
First, we held a badge pinning ceremony surrounded by family, friends, and fellow firefighters for our final three paramedics:
-Paramedic Eric Bowman
-Paramedic Lisa Briles
-Paramedic Don Mulligan
All three have successfully completed their field internship programs and are now serving as acting paramedics on their assigned shifts. Their achievement marks a major milestone for Hudson Fire as both of our ambulances are now fully staffed 24/7, one serving Hudson and one serving Lochbuie. This accomplishment represents countless hours of training, dedication, and hard work, and we could not be more proud of them.
We also had the opportunity to recognize an important promotion within our organization. Chantel Benish was officially promoted from Paramedic to EMS Chief. Chief Benish brings decades of EMS experience, leadership, and dedication to our profession. We are excited to welcome her to our executive management team and look forward to her leadership as she helps take our ambulance program to the next level. Congratulations, Chief Benish!
In addition, we had the honor of recognizing Paramedic Harter with a Life Saving Award.
While completing her probationary field internship with Brighton Firet, Paramedic Harter responded to a cardiac arrest call. Through her skill, training, and teamwork alongside Brighton Fire crews, life-saving measures were successfully performed, and the patient regained a pulse. The patient was transported to the hospital, treated for a heart attack, and ultimately discharged home, where they continue to do well today.
Calls like these are incredibly rare. While cardiac arrest survival rates continue to improve, it is uncommon for a patient to be successfully resuscitated, recover, and walk out of the hospital. This outcome is a testament to the exceptional care provided by Paramedic Harter and the Brighton Fire team.
Please join us in congratulating Eric, Lisa, Don, Chief Benish, and Paramedic Harter on these outstanding accomplishments. We are extremely fortunate to have such dedicated professionals serving our communities, and we look forward to the positive impact they will continue to make in Hudson, Lochbuie, and throughout our district.
Congratulations and thank you for your commitment to serving others!

RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT TODAY
The combination of strong winds, low humidity, and dry vegetation has created critical fire weather conditions across our area today. Any spark can quickly turn into a fast-moving wildfire.
Please help keep our community safe by:
-Avoiding all outdoor burning
-Not parking vehicles on dry grass
-Properly disposing of smoking materials
-Avoiding activities that create sparks near dry vegetation
-Being extra cautious while working outdoors
A small fire can spread rapidly under these conditions and threaten lives, property, and emergency responders.
We encourage everyone to stay aware of changing weather conditions and report any signs of smoke or fire immediately by calling 911.
Please use extreme caution today and do your part to help prevent wildfires. Stay safe!

As our 2026 OPEN DOORS: Inside the Minds of Local Leaders Leadership Development Program comes to a close, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to this outstanding group of companies and organizations who served as our Presenting Hosts throughout the journey.
By quite literally “opening their doors,” these leaders provided participants with a rare behind-the-scenes look into the inner workings of their organizations, industries, leadership philosophies, and day-to-day operations. Their willingness to share their experiences, challenges, innovations, and insight created meaningful learning opportunities that simply cannot be replicated in a classroom setting.
From municipal leadership and education to agriculture, healthcare, emergency services, energy, manufacturing, and community development, each host brought a unique perspective that helped shape and inspire the next generation of leaders in our region.
Programs like OPEN DOORS are successful because of community-minded organizations that believe in investing in people, collaboration, and the future of rural communities. We are deeply grateful for the time, knowledge, hospitality, and encouragement each host extended to our participants.
Together, we’re stronger. Together, we’ll make it.
**Registration for the Chamber's 2027 Leadership Development Program will open in November 2026. Announcements will be made on our page and the Chamber website, so stay tuned!
