Gosh, when it rains, it pours.
After a month that’s already included power outages and more than our fair share of equipment issues, we’ve hit another major hurdle.
Yesterday, the refrigeration system that supports our beer cooler, food cooler, and draft lines suffered a significant failure. We’ve spent the last day exploring every possible option, but unfortunately we’re waiting on a replacement part that simply can’t get here any faster.
As a result, we’ll be closed for the next couple of days while repairs are completed. If all goes according to plan, we’ll be back up and running as soon as possible.
Owning a small business can be humbling at times, and this is certainly one of those moments. We know many of you were planning to stop by this week, and we’re incredibly grateful for your patience, understanding, and continued support.
The good news is that the beer is safe, the food is safe, and this is a repair issue—not a catastrophe. We just need a little time to get everything back to the standards you expect from us.
We’ll keep everyone updated as we learn more. We can’t wait to get the ovens fired back up, the taps pouring again, and welcome you back through our doors.

In the May issue of the Celebrate Hudson! newsletter, we asked readers to submit their best answer to How many total businesses (of all types, with annual revenue of at least $1,000) are in Hudson and employ at least one other person in addition to the owner?
U.S. Census Bureau data for 2023 (the most current available) includes 858 firms in zip code 44236 that employ at least one person with an annual payroll of at least $1,000. Interestingly, the greatest concentration of companies in Hudson (136 of them) are classified as professional, scientific and technical services, followed by healthcare and social assistance (86 total), finance and insurance (81 total) and retail trade (78 total).
Moreover, an estimated 1,100 Hudsonites in 2025 were self-employed (without additional employees). This shows that Hudson is not only great for traditional businesses, but for the “gig economy” as well.
The winner of our May trivia contest was Dick Starr.
Dick is seen below showing off his prizes, which celebrate just a few of the retail business employers who serve the needs of our local community:
• A unique Hudson map tote made in the USA especially for sale at Hudson General, 136 North Main St., Hudson. Inside the tote were $25 gift cards from:
• Vignettes, a clothing and home décor boutique at 140 North Main St., Hudson;
• Spice & Tea Exchange, which includes a hot and cold takeout tea bar at 94 First St., Hudson; and
• Hollywood Feed, supplying pet foods, toys and supplies at 116 West Streetsboro Rd., Hudson
