UPDATES: Good afternoon! I wanted to give an update on what the latest is at SSRR. First, I want to tell everyone that Bak and Preacher are doing good with their new family. It has been a very tough week as I fed 99% of mornings and 99% of evenings and Bak is usually the first face I see. I miss him and Preacher dearly however I know what our mission is. I am receiving lots of updates from their family, but it is still beyond hard.
We did have a new intake, Sunny. Sunny is a 5 year old quarter horse whom is very loved by his family however they just did not have the time he deserved and he did not have horsey friends. He is learning horse language as he has been by himself for 3.5 years. I signed him up with Cat Zimmerman with CZ Mustangs right away as she has a waiting list . We are going to pick up Roman tomorrow from training so Cat has offered to take Sunny in as soon as tomorrow. He settled right in here and is not scared of anything so he will be just fine. We would like to raise some funds for his training. Al and I can cover $500 of it so we need to raise an additional $700 for one months of training. He does need at least 3 months to be started correctly under saddle however I thought raising one month at a time would be easier. I have been in talks with his family for a long time about bringing him to SSRR.
Roman - we will pick up Roman tomorrow from training. Cat stated that he is doing great. Roman is available for adoption with application, contract and adoption fee. Roman does require consistent riding and needs yearly maintenance. He is stunning beautiful and loves to trail ride.
Mae has returned to SSRR due to no fault of her own. Mae came in with her daughter Sierra and Rip. Mae sat in a field for years so she is more of a companion unless an adopter is willing to put in the work to train her as she is in her late teens. Mae did come back with a suspicious lump on her chin area so we will have the vet out to check it out. Once the lump is check out, she will be available for adoption.
Morgan is doing great. He had his 2nd trim with no sedation which is huge for him. Morgan is delayed and has experienced alot of trauma so he will most likely stay at our rescue in sanctuary. Huge thank you to Kathy for sponsoring Morgan.
Captain Sassy pants is doing better. We paired Captain up with Andy as Andy is a big goof ball. We are in hopes that Andy's goofy personality will rub off on Captain. He also had a great trim. Thank you Adam for your patience.
Roy boy is doing much better. He did founder and is sore however he is in a stall with his goats and lots of bedding to keep him as comfortable as we can. He is having trims every 3 weeks.
We do have more updates coming soon. Some things that have been happening behind the scenes cannot be discussed just yet, but soon.
We will not take anymore horses in until things turn around or we adopt a few out. We do have a waiting list of owner surrenders that are not in dire need. Funds for Feed & Hay just do not come in for fundraisers and that is the largest daily need. Our adoption fees do help however does not come close to covering all that we need between vet, feed, hay, alfalfa, supplements, shavings, fence post, fence boards, pitch forks, gas, fixing the gator, the list goes on. We spent almost $500 just on Saturday for fence boards that needed to be repaired. Thank you to Al and Brian for replacing the boards.
If you can donate towards Sunny's training, feed or hay, we would appreciate it. You can also order feed from Tractor Supply and have us pick it up. SR 52 in Hudson. We order Purina Smart Edge, Purina Enrich, Standlee Alfalfa and Timothy pellets and Standlee Timothy pellets.
We can’t do this without you 🙏

We love our SSRR volunteers! ❤️🐴

Thank you for your time, hard work, dedication, and the love you pour into every horse that comes through our gates. Whether you’re feeding, cleaning, grooming, helping with events, transporting horses, or simply spending time with them, you make a difference every single day.

Stricker Sunshine Rescue Ranch would not be able to do what we do without our incredible volunteer family. We are so grateful for each and every one of you.

We are still in need of volunteers for our morning shift from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM. If you have a few hours to spare and would like to make a difference in the lives of rescue horses, we’d love to have you join our team!

Message us for more information. ❤️

Look at Indie now! ❤️

When Indie arrived at SSRR, she had no formal training. We started from the ground up, teaching her the basics through groundwork and eventually getting her started under saddle. She was available for adoption for quite some time as we waited patiently for the perfect match.

A family came out to meet another horse we had available and unexpectedly fell in love with Indie. Knowing they were a 5-star home, we made the decision to waive her adoption fee because our ultimate goal is always to find the very best family for each horse.

We were incredibly grateful that they still chose to make a donation at delivery. Adoption fees and donations help us continue caring for the horses that spend months — and sometimes years — in rehabilitation or waiting for their forever homes.

Seeing updates like this reminds us why we do what we do. Look how far this beautiful girl has come through patience, consistency, and the love of her family. We couldn’t be happier for Indie and are so thankful for adopters who give our horses the lives they deserve.

Thank you for choosing adoption. ❤️🐴

Farrier Day at SSRR! 🐴🧡

Today was spa day for Sunny, Roy, Captain, and Morgan as they all received their hoof trims. Keeping our horses on a regular farrier schedule is an important part of their overall health and comfort.

A huge thank you to our farrier for your patience, helping keep these horses happy, healthy, and moving their best. It truly takes a team to provide the care these horses deserve.

Thank you to our amazing supporters, donors, and volunteers who make days like this possible. Every trim, vet visit, and bag of feed is because of your support. We couldn’t do it without you!
