The Philosopher Debuts First Official Single “Rooted” Worldwide January 29 via GY2MX Productions
Houston-based artist The Philosopher launches his recording career with the release of his debut single “Rooted,” available worldwide Thursday, January 29th on all major platforms via GY2MX Productions.
“Rooted” is a powerful declaration of artistic identity and independence. Anchored in authentic reggae tradition and elevated by modern musical sensibility. The track pairs a rich, organic riddim with conscious, introspective lyricism, capturing the essence of staying grounded while growing beyond limitation.
The Philosopher, born Phillip Moreno, is a multi-instrumentalist, producer, and singer-songwriter with classical piano training and a diverse musical foundation spanning reggae, hip hop, rock, electronic, and classical music. He has played in and fronted multiple bands throughout the Houston music scene and has served as a pivotal force in Wi’Deya, the Texas based backing band for international reggae artiste Soulfiya. Phillip has performed on major festival stages and shared lineups with reggae legends, developing a sound that merges roots depth with contemporary expression. Influenced by Bob Marley, Midnite, and Tribal Seeds, his music reflects a balance of spiritual consciousness and modern sonic texture.
“Rooted is about reclaiming independence as an artist, honoring the reggae foundations that shaped me, and protecting the creative garden from outside influence,” says The Philosopher.
Produced by the global Caribbean music collective GY2MX, “Rooted” marks the arrival of a new voice with authenticity, musicianship, and vision.
