Ken Ward had passed away.

Brilliant lawyer, amazingly talented pianist, he was one of the nicest human beings I have ever known. He was there for me at some of the darkest times of my life as he was for many, many others in our community.

I am heartbroken.

Nephew Casey Henderson at house helping me mentioned how much his Music Appreciation class taught by Phil Ahern meant to him (way back in Casey's UH Downtown days). I was surprised at the mention of an old friend, went to check and was dismayed that Phil had passed in July 2023 and I had not heard.

I am posting this in case other musician friends had not heard. Phil was such a gifted, talented, sweet man. I am so sad I lost touch.

So for my birthday, I am venturing out tonight to Emmit's Place to hear Tex Allen and his Sunshine Friends, from 7 - 10:30.
I haven't been out in several years due to night blindness, but recent surgery has pretty much corrected that. I'm worried everyone forgot about me.
So I will swallow my remaining agoraphobia and go.

I didn't invite anyone ahead of time because I wasn't sure if I would be up to it (had a cold), but I'm okay and I sure would like to see real people/friends again so hopefully some of y'all might be dropping by Emmit's(?)

I am very ashamed that I have not been there before, but I haven't been anywhere. Most of my friends know frequenting music venues was my norm, so I am hoping they realize I must have had good reason if I stopped.

So if you can, consider joining me at Emmit's tonight !
