I met Annapoorni Sankaran back when she decided to take up Standup Comedy, and found out over the years that we had so much in common-we both did debate in high school, loved to travel, and both loved good drinks, good food, and good company. Not only was Anna a brilliant attorney, but she was generous with her time. While most people would relax for their birthdays, Anna convinced me and a group of friends to volunteer at the Houston Food Bank. But when she told me she was going to Nicaragua to build houses for Habitat for Humanity, I realized her empathy for those in need was on another level.

Anna, I just want you to know that the way you lived was an inspiration-you touched so many lives, and I'm praying that over time, the sadness your Mother, Michael, and the rest of your friends and family feel will be tempered by the memory of the light and levity you brought into this world. We will grieve your loss completely, but love your memory fiercely...
