Been back the the lab cooking up a few things lately . Won’t you join me in my world of pure imagination.

There are some people who don’t just enter your life—they make room for you in theirs.

When I returned to this city, Rita Hughes was one of the first people who made me feel like I belonged. She didn’t treat me like an outsider. She welcomed me. She loved me. She supported me. She saw me.

Today, I don’t cry for Rita. I know God has done her better. He has released her from pain, restored her strength, and welcomed her home.

I cry for me.

I cry because I won’t feel her embrace again. I won’t hear her laughter from backstage. I won’t get to witness her extraordinary talent light up another stage. I won’t get another conversation, another hug, another moment with a woman who gave so much of herself to so many.

Rita’s legacy is not just in the roles she played, but in the lives she touched. I am one of those lives.

Thank you for making me feel seen. Thank you for your kindness. Thank you for your friendship. Thank you for your love.

Take your bow, Queen. You’ve earned your standing ovation.

Rest well, Rita. ❤️

This Black History Month, let’s celebrate the profound and integral role of Black Americans in shaping the nation. From the arts to civil rights, from science to sports, Black history is American history. We cannot truly understand the story of America without acknowledging the contributions, struggles, and triumphs of Black individuals and communities throughout our history. Let’s honor, learn, and continue the conversation all year round.

We are the Rhythm! We are the Voice! We are the Movement! WE ARE THE LEGACY! “HAPPY BLACK HISTORY MONTH FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE!”
