The Parish School is the only school in Houston, public or private, that offers a multi-age, language-based developmental curriculum for children 18 months through fifth grade. Children served have communication delays and learning differences, but average to above average learning potential. Happy Fun Friday! ๐Ÿซง

It was a fun-filled day at Camp Acorn, kicking off with our friend Monty the Magician captivating the crowd with a few tricks up his sleeve. Campers also had a blast making and popping huge bubbles and running through sprinklers. They ended the day with a refreshing popsicle treat - the perfect way to close the first week of camp!

Counting down to Camp Acorn! ๐ŸŒฐ

With Camp Acorn opening tomorrow, our campers got a preview of whatโ€™s in store for them this summer at todayโ€™s Meet the Teacher! There were smiles all around as campers connected with each other ahead of an exciting camp experience filled with learning, growth and fun. We canโ€™t wait to see you tomorrow for the first day of Camp Acorn!

Join us for Developing Social Competencies and Resilience! ๐Ÿ“–

Camp Acorn will be hosting an Adult Education Series throughout June, kicking off this Thursday with Developing Social Competencies and Resilience, presented by Elementary Speech-Language Pathologist Audrey VonBorstel, MS, CCC-SLP. Resilience and social competence have been identified as the two critical abilities a child needs to be successful as an adult. This talk will cover how you can help your student find better success in social situations and how to support them in becoming more resilient throughout their life.

Speech therapy staples! ๐Ÿš‚

As we continue celebrating National Speech-Language-Hearing Month, The Parish School and The Carruth Center speech-language pathologists shared the items they like to use during therapy. Whether itโ€™s a classic game or a hands-on sensory tool, our SLPs utilize an array of tools to not only support communication and growth, but also have fun! The Parish School would like to congratulate Beatriz Roman on being named our Paraeducator of the Year! Beatriz brings an incredible amount of thoughtfulness and kindness to work every day, finding ways to support her students along with her fellow staff members. Jayda is a talented social-emotional support specialist whose warmth and empathy has created a safe space for Parish students to come to her when in need. Today, The Parish School hosted our annual Commencement and celebrated two of our students, Rohan and Coco! We are so proud of the tremendous growth they have shown during their time with us, and we look forward to watching them continue to thrive. A fun-filled Field Day! ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ

Parish School students enjoyed a day of friendly competition and teamwork during our annual Elementary Field Day! From sack races to splash battles, today was full of fun and laughter all throughout campus, concluding with a sweet popsicle treat to cool off!
