My Reflection 2022
(Long post with a cursing warning!! Lol)
I was sitting on the porch with my grandson the other day and began reflecting on life and here are a few thoughts from then and now …
- Friends are the people who will come and sit with you in the “dark place” until the light comes on. Then when the light comes on they were the same person in the darkness and the light.
- Life is short enough, savor every f #%king moment of it. You’ll blink one day and say “did that happen last week or ten years ago?” That’s when you realize most of the s**t you went through is insignificant in the bigger picture.
- I know today that everything I’ve gone through made me who I am for better or worse … in other words “all occurrences have value” in the formation of our souls and lives.
- Most of the s**t we worry about is tied to our egos. Let that s**t go.
- Love is the pure act of embracing the mystery in those we encounter on the journey without any expectation of reciprocity. Stop negotiating and start living.
- Money is good to have, accolades are sweet, accomplishments are cool and possessions are fun but they are all only worth what they can be used for improving the lives of those around us.
- My dear friend Joe Wilson reminded one day as he was passing to trust God with all my heart, and to stop leaning on my own understanding but in all of my ways acknowledge God and in return God would direct my path. God responded with direction.
- For all of the people who have ever placed a bet against me, you lost because in life we are to bet “on” the success of others, not against. Learn from that and the next time you compare your life to someone else’s life remember that you don’t know the price that person paid to be who they are and for what they have.
- 2023 will be another 365 opportunities to live everyday to the maximum leaving nothing on the table.
