SIRE improves the quality of life for people with special needs through therapeutic horsemanship activities and therapies, and educational outreach

Photos from SIRE's post 06/07/2026

Every week, more than 200 riders come to SIRE seeking strength, healing, and hope. But donations currently cover only 64% of the true cost of each lesson and therapy session.

As needs grow, your support matters more than ever. A summer gift today ensures riders like William keep moving forward one stride at a time.

As we enter summer, our horses have been racking their brains on what they would like to put on their summer wish list.

Possum would like the Absorbine Fungasol Horse Shampoo this summer. If you would like to donate this shampoo for Possum you can get the item by clicking the Chewy link below or finding it at Tractor Supply.

Thank you Heidi & Adam Peters for sponsoring our horse, Keeper.

SIRE maintains a herd of 20 equines between our two locations and each horse has specific needs. You can help SIRE by sponsoring a horse for a year. Your annual donation provides the feed, farrier and vet care for a specific member of our herd to keep them in working condition.

If you would like to learn more about sponsoring a member of our herd, please reach out to Marley at [email protected] or click the link below to select a horse to sponsor.

Earlier this year HEB donated gift cards to the sites and that allowed us to stock up on drinks and snacks for our volunteers ahead of the summer semester. This will ensure that everyone stays hydrated and has a pick-me-up snack before heading into class.

Thank you HEB for supporting Texans all across the Lone Star State.

William was born prematurely and is almost completely blind — but on the back of Whiskey at SIRE, he found confidence, strength, and independence that once felt out of reach.

Twenty years later, he still rides every week, and the courage he builds in the arena now carries onto the stage, where he writes and performs his own music.

This is the power of your support. Make a summer gift to help riders like William continue growing stronger, braver, and more independent.

Today, we pause to honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Their courage, sacrifice, and devotion to protecting our freedoms will never be forgotten.

At SIRE, we are humbled to serve veterans who continue to carry the weight of their service. Through the healing power of horses, many find strength, peace, and connection as they navigate life after the uniform.
