Had a really awesome time playing with the Houston Symphony this week with some live to picture shows. The Princess Bride and Harry Potter 5. I’m always blown away by how good the musicians are in HSO and I feel lucky to be able to occasionally sub in the orchestra. I become a better musician every time I play there- it also happens to be very fun.
Also shout out to Dave Kirk the long time Tubist of the HSO and Rice Professor. He will be retiring from the orchestra in December so I figured it would be good to take a picture since it may be my last time performing with him. He’s full of wisdom and great stories- worth taking a lesson or two with if you are in Houston!
Also shout out to my Mom and my girlfriend Danielle for coming out to support me and eat good food after.
Now time for some traveling and relaxing :)
Love me some Kopprasch

Keep track of what your aperture is doing while you are playing! It can save you a lot of time and effort when working on range.

The Brad Edwards saga continues. Trying to make this sound good! Everything in your warmup should be as good as you want your excerpts, solos and auditions to be. Your brain is smart- it will do what you tell it to, whether you tell it to play well or not is up to you!

Brad Edwards lip slurs never fails
More from the Steve Lange Warm-up! Love these slurs to build stability throughout the range and promote a healthy embouchure in the high range.
