Texas built more solar farms in the past year than any other state as it rushed to expand its energy generation capacity. When all renewable sources in the United States are grouped together, they represent the second-largest source of electricity, behind natural gas. Renewable energy grew by roughly 9.5%, according to government statistics, largely because of falling prices for solar panels and wind turbines. At the same time, natural gas and oil prices increased throughout 2025, making them less competitive. It is also worth noting that, according to YPCCC statistics, 49% of American voters believe policies intended to transition away from fossil fuels and toward clean energy will improve economic growth and create new jobs. There is also broad support for clean energy overall. About 66% of voters say the United States should use more renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, and geothermal than it does today, while only 12% say the country should use less.
