Houston is set to become the next market for Uber's robotaxi service.
The program is expected to launch in 2027 through a partnership with autonomous driving company Nuro and EV manufacturer Lucid Motors.

Houston's economy has now recorded six consecutive years of growth.
The May Houston PMI came in at 51.0, marking the 72nd straight month of expansion, while sales/new orders, employment, and lead times all remained positive.

Houston-area sales and use tax collections totaled $545.8 million through the first four months of 2026, down 6.1% from the same period last year.
While year-to-date comparisons reflect elevated spending ahead of tariff changes in early 2025, April collections exceeded April 2025 and 2024 levels.

The University of St. Thomas has broken ground on a $45 million residence hall.
