Christa was 9 weeks pregnant when she was killed in her Houston home. We fight for justice, raise DV awareness, and honor her memory. đź’ś

Last month, the judge issued a preliminary order requiring the children to return to Texas. Tomorrow, she is expected to decide whether that order becomes final or whether the children can remain in South Carolina, where they have lived with the courts’ approval for the past year.

If ordered back to Texas, the children would leave behind the home, school, church, friends, family and support system they have built in South Carolina to return to a state where they have no family. Tomorrow’s ruling will determine whether they can remain in the community that has supported them through the most difficult chapter of their young lives.

Please join us in lifting up Christa’s children, the Bauers, and everyone advocating for their best interests. Keep them in your prayers, send your love and support, and pray that the court’s decision is guided by what is best for the children. 💜

‼️ UPDATE ‼️We previously shared that Lee’s Italian attorney indicated she would seek to have him transferred to an immigration detention facility—or potentially released from custody altogether—while awaiting a decision on his asylum request.

According to reports, however, an Italian judge has ruled that Lee will remain in custody at Turin prison as extradition proceedings continue.

While we know better than to place too much confidence in any single development, this ruling offers a small measure of hope. Hope that extradition to the United States remains a question of when, not if. Hope that one day Christa and her unborn baby will finally have their day in court. And hope that one day, justice will be served. đź’ś

It’s hard to comprehend that today was supposed to be the first day of trial for the murders of Christa and her unborn child. ⚖️

For exactly 20 months, we have carried the unbearable weight of losing her while also clinging to the belief that this week would finally bring a step toward justice. Not closure—because there is no closing the wound left by losing someone so deeply loved—but at least movement. At least the chance to look the horror of what happened straight in the eye inside a courtroom.

We were never looking forward to trial. We dreaded every painful detail it would force us to relive. But we also longed for it, because it meant Christa’s voice mattered. Her life mattered. Her unborn child mattered. They would have their day in court.

Instead, there is no courtroom. No opening statements. No accountability. Just more waiting. More uncertainty. More prayers that Lee will one day be extradited back to the United States from Italy, where he fled, to stand trial for what he is accused of doing.

We do not know how long this road will be. We do not know when, or if that day will come.

But what we do know is this: we will never stop speaking Christa’s name. We will never stop fighting for justice for her and her unborn child. We will never stop surrounding the Bauers and Christa’s children with love as they carry an unimaginable grief no family should ever endure.

This week will not unfold the way we thought it would. But one thing remains unchanged: our love for Christa is stronger than ever, and her light continues to shine through all who refuse to let her be forgotten. đź’ś

If you’re new here, we want to invite you into a tradition that has become deeply meaningful to us. Every Tuesday, we wear and share purple in honor of Christa and in solidarity with victims and survivors of domestic violence.

You see, it was on a Tuesday that our world shattered—the day we learned that our beautiful, loving friend had been taken from this world. For a long time, Tuesdays arrived carrying only heartbreak. Until we decided to take Tuesday back.

Now, Tuesdays are for Christa, and the baby she never had the chance to hold. Tuesdays are for every person who feels unseen, unheard, or alone. To remind you that we see you. We hear you. We support you. 🫶🏻

Tuesdays are our days to shine light into darkness, to remind survivors that they are not alone, and to honor a life that continues to move hearts and inspire courage. And it is also a day to remind the world that we are still here. Watching, waiting, and believing that justice will come. ⚖️

Join us tomorrow by wearing + sharing your purple pictures and tagging đź’ś

⚖️ You would think that by now we would have learned to expect the unexpected—that we would understand the target is always moving, and that certainty seems forever just out of reach. And yet, today brought another painful reminder.

No decision was reached in family court regarding where the children—and therefore the Bauers—will be ordered to live. Another hearing has now been set for June 18th, where a decision will hopefully be made. 💜

Tomorrow is an incredibly important day for Christa’s children.

The family court judge will decide whether the temporary ruling issued two weeks ago — requiring the Bauers to relocate the children back to Texas — will become permanent, or whether the children will be allowed to remain in South Carolina, the place they have called home for the past year.

In the wake of unimaginable loss, these children have found comfort in the presence of extended family, stability in routine, and safety in a community that has surrounded them with unwavering love and support after their world was shattered.

Please continue to lift the Bauer family in prayer as they once again endure the exhausting legal process that has consumed so much of their lives since Christa’s death.

Keep sharing Christa’s story. Keep saying her name. Keep shining her light.

Most importantly, please continue praying for Christa’s surviving children — that their best interests will remain at the center of every decision made, and that they will continue to be surrounded by the love, protection, and stability they so deeply deserve. 💜

Tomorrow is Tuesday — the day we wear purple for Christa + May Baby — and it’s also the day Lee will appear for a court hearing in Italy. As the Bauers continue to walk through the unimaginable, let’s surround them with love and support by wearing and sharing our purple, continuing to tell Christa’s story, and keeping her light shining brightly for the world to see. 💜

There have been so many twists and turns in recent weeks that it’s hard to catch our breath. Our hearts are still breaking, our minds still trying to process, but as we face the week ahead, here’s where things stand.

Lee remains detained in Italy. He has a hearing scheduled for Tuesday, 5/26. At this time, we don’t know the nature of the hearing, but his Italian attorney has indicated she is working to have him transferred to an immigration detention facility while he continues seeking asylum.

Meanwhile, according to recent reports, the Italian government has still not received a formal extradition request from the DOJ. The deadline for that request is mid-June, meaning precious time is slipping away. We are doing everything we can to make sure the urgency of this situation is understood. To everyone who has helped raise awareness: thank you. Your voices matter more than you know. We are especially thankful to SC Senators and who are working to push for action.

This Friday, 5/29, the postponed family court hearing will take place. This will determine whether the current order requiring the children to return to Texas becomes final, forcing the Bauers to uproot their lives once again, or whether the court will reconsider its ruling.

Since Christa’s death, the Houston community has surrounded the Bauers with extraordinary love and support. But the painful reality is that neither the children nor the Bauers have family in Texas. The last remaining connection tying the children to Texas was their father — a man who has since fled the country, just prior to his trial for the murders of their mother and unborn sibling.

We are asking you, once again, to stand with us. Keep sharing Christa’s story. Keep speaking her name. Every person who learns about this case brings more light to it, and light is what we desperately need right now.

Some days this fight feels impossibly heavy. But your support reminds us that we are not carrying this alone. Together, we will continue fighting for Christa and the children she loved so deeply. đź’ś
