The SPX Parent Association recently hosted its first New Family Social at Johnny Rita's, bringing together new parents to connect, meet one another and celebrate the exciting journey ahead.

The evening included a fun raffle with Panther Den apparel, gift cards from Johnny Rita's and goody bags for our guests. Thank you to our Parent Association volunteers and community partners for helping create such a warm and welcoming experience.

We're excited to have these families join St. Pius X and look forward to an incredible school year together!

With the FIFA World Cup excitement building and Houston welcoming fans from around the globe, we're celebrating a remarkable member of the St. Pius X family whose own soccer journey reached the international stage.

Before serving as our Dean of Student Life, Suzie Grech represented Spain as the starting goalkeeper for both the Under-18 and Senior Women's National Teams from 1998-2002. Thanks to her father's roots in Mallorca, she proudly wore the Spanish crest while competing in World Cup qualifying matches and the UEFA Women's Under-19 Championship, where her team earned a silver medal.

Even more impressive, Suzie accomplished this while playing high school soccer and competing for the University of Michigan, adding semi-professional experience during the summers. A goalkeeper since the age of 12, she credits her grandfather, Satur Grech, a professional player and coach in Spain for more than 30 years, as one of her greatest inspirations, alongside legendary Danish goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel.

Today, the same leadership, resilience and competitive spirit that carried her onto the international stage are on display every day as she mentors and guides our Panthers.

We're proud to call Coach Grech one of our own.

From Panther Pride to National Champions! 🏆🐾

Congratulations to St. Pius X alumna Victoria Hunter ’22 and the Texas Longhorns on capturing the 2026 Women’s College World Series Championship!

Two weeks before helping bring home a national title, Victoria delivered one of the biggest moments of Texas' season with a clutch pinch-hit home run that helped propel the Longhorns into the championship series. Her preparation, perseverance, and team-first mentality embody what it means to be a Panther.

A three-time TAPPS All-State selection at SPX, Victoria continues to make us proud both on and off the field, excelling as a student, athlete, and leader.

Champions are ready when their moment comes👉and Victoria proved exactly that.

St. Pius X High School is proud to welcome Coach Charles McMillian as our new Head Football Coach.

Coach McMillian brings decades of coaching experience from respected collegiate and high school programs across the country, along with a proven ability to build strong team cultures and develop student-athletes on and off the field. His leadership philosophy aligns closely with our Dominican mission and commitment to forming young men of faith, character and excellence.

We are excited for the future of Panther Football and look forward to seeing Coach McMillian lead our athletes as summer training and football camp begin in the weeks ahead!

Our classrooms and hallways feel a little quieter now that the school year has ended, but we’re reflecting on the incredible talent that filled them all year long. Congratulations to Maya and Savannah for receiving the Young Writers 2026 Talent for Writing award for their mystery/thriller creative writing piece, which will be featured in a Young Writers anthology. This is Maya’s second consecutive year earning this distinguished honor. The stories may be fictional, but the talent is very real!

With the graduation of the Class of 2026, the Class of 2027 now takes the lead. Yesterday’s Veritas Liturgy celebrated this meaningful tradition as each junior received their Torchbearer pin, a visible symbol of their commitment to lead with faith, integrity, service and Veritas. Congratulations, future seniors!
