CCA Texas
Ensuring the health and conservation of our marine resources and anglers’ access to them in Texas.
CCA’s strength is drawn from the thousands of recreational saltwater anglers who make up its membership. From the Mexico border to the upper-reaches of Maine, CCA’s grassroots influence is felt through state capitols, U.S. Congress and most importantly, in the conservation and restoration of our coastal marine resources. CCA began in 1977 after drastic commercial overfishing along the Texas coast

🗣 Offshore Anglers: The fish you release, the ones you “discard,” serve as an important data point to assess the health of the population and are often extremely difficult to quantify in recreational fisheries.
That is why the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) has teamed up with Mississippi State University (MSU) to launch the multi-state "discard" Project. The goal is simple: to collect "discard" information from offshore anglers.
For anglers headed offshore in Galveston Bay, San Antonio Bay, or the lower Laguna Madre, you may see a (TPWD) technician before leaving the dock, who will ask several questions and hand you a card. This is to test a new approach for improving the accuracy of reef fish released (or “discard”) reporting using a physical paper catch card paired with quick smartphone photo submission. Anglers will take a card with them offshore and mark the fish they discard as they are fishing, then text a picture of the completed card to submit.
