I had a faaabulous time in Memphis, TN this last week and a half, getting to do a recital with the bastion of badassery herself Kathleen Kelly, working with/getting to know the fabulously talented young artists of , and then finishing up my time there with the Verdi Requiem put on by both Opera Memphis and !

I am OVER THE MOON (damn near literally!!) that our recording of Jake Heggie’s Intelligence has won the 2026 Grammy for Best Opera Recording. It’s profoundly moving (aka I ugly cried) to have this album recognized by the voting members of the Recording Academy, and I’m so grateful to everyone who brought this opera to life. Thank you to everyone who has listened, supported, and championed this project – and this mezzo!!! 💜💜💜

A Grammy nomination for Intelligence!?! My whole heart is doing cartwheels. 🤩🤩🤩 Creating this role was the honor of a lifetime, and I’m so proud of the story we told together at HGO. Huge love to Jake, Gene, Jawole, Kwamé, and this absolute dream cast – and my deep gratitude for the real-life women whose courage sparked this opera.

It’s the day of the show, y’all!! 😁 We open Il Trittico tonight at Houston Grand Opera and this is a special one… not only are we doing a FULL Trittico in the original order Puccini wrote it in (Il Tabarro/Suor Angelica/Gianni Schicchi), but this is my role debut in ALL 3 OPERAS! 😱 That’s right, folks… 3 role debuts in one night! WHEW!! 😅 (And according to ChatGPT, only 3 other mezzos have done all 3 roles at one time… now that’s one heck of a hat trick!)��

“In bocca al lupo🐺” to all of my colleagues, both on stage and behind the scenes… this is a fabulous production, and an absolute privilege to be a part of. Let’s get this baby OPEN!!

When Dead Man Walking premiered 25 years ago, it was a seismic event in our art form. Audiences for this opera leave the theater transformed, with more open hearts and minds, carrying the Big Questions of humanity with them. *That* is what great art does.

Jake Heggie has the rare power to remind us that opera is NOT a museum piece. It is alive and relevant, speaking directly to who we are. I am so deeply honored to sing Sister Helen in this anniversary production at San Francisco Opera, and I’m sending so much love to our whole team for opening today!!
