A staircase may serve ascent and descent, but in design, its deeper role is to shape how space is experienced. Staircases act as an element that choreographs movement, reveals space gradually, and gives transition architectural meaning.

The ribbon has officially been cut on the new Caldwell County Community and Evacuation Center in Luling, Texas — a 45,000 SF facility designed to meet two critical needs: emergency response and community use.

Created as a regional shelter during disasters, the center can house up to 360 people during emergency events. When not activated, the facility serves as a modern community venue with a 20,000 SF main hall, flexible event space, advanced AV technology, high-speed internet, and accommodations for more than 600 guests.

Set on 20 acres with convenient regional access, the project is a meaningful investment in resilience, safety, and civic life for Caldwell County and beyond.
