**Wandering can happen quickly and silently — but preparation can save lives. 💙
Simple safeguards like secure locks, ID tools, trusted neighbors, safety skills, and a clear emergency plan can help protect children and adults with autism at home and in the community.
Most importantly: if someone is missing, search nearby water first and call 911 immediately.

Happy Washington Wednesday! Yesterday, the House Appropriations Committee passed a bill that included language that will require prevalence tracking of profound autism.
This is because of your positive advocacy.
If you haven't already, please take action to ensure that this language continues to move forward in Congress. You can do so right here:

To the tribe:
Raising, supporting, loving, and fighting for men and women on the spectrum carries a world no one else can ever see nor imagine. To these mothers, "patience" is not just a word; you are the very definition of it through every action you take.
To the mothers who learn a different language—a different way of teaching by touch, by leading, by prompting, and by deep abiding respect—you are not JUST a mom.
You are a human’s entire world. You are their connection to silent conversations no one else understands. You have learned how to unlock a "God code" that only you and your child know and silently speak.
May God bless you, mom warriors. You fight so many wars that others call "fight or flight," but to you, it is the daily survival of your child you fight for.
Happy Mother’s Day to the warriors. 💙
