Flip your Thinking, Change your World!

04/20/2026

YOU KNOW THOSE MOMENTS—every now and then—when it hits you… you just grew up a notch?

One of mine was when I realized that not every thought deserves a microphone. I mean, some thoughts just need to stay thoughts.

I've been halfway through a sentence and then realized,
“Yeah… this isn't helping."

Too late. It’s already out there. For all the world to see and hear. Floating around doing its damage.

God has an opinion on this. He basically says, "Maybe you should engage the brain before the mouth."

“Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry.” James 1:19

Being “quick to listen” sounds simple—but honestly, I figure most of us are just waiting for our turn to talk.

Not listening. Reloading.

And the part about being slow to speak?

I think that's not so much about being silent as it is being intentional. Because once words leave your mouth, there's no edit→undo.

And anger?
Funny how anger feels powerful in the moment.
But it usually leaves a mess you have to clean up later on aisle 4.

Take it from me, an expert blurter...a small pause can save you from a big regret.

A reminder to us both this week:
Pause before you react—wisdom shows up when you slow down enough to actually let it.

Rob's Audio Verison: https://robflips.com/audioblog/

I found an old packet of cucumber seeds in my garage awhile back.

They had been sitting there for years. Dry, forgotten, probably passed over more than once. They didn’t look like much. Just a few brittle little seeds in a worn-out packet.

I almost tossed them. But something in me said, “What the heck?”

So I planted them.

I pushed those lifeless-looking seeds down into the dirt… covered 'em up… watered them along with the rest of my small crop. I didn't expect much, if anything.

Sure 'nough, about a week later… something broke through.
Then more.

Before long, those old dried up seeds were growing, climbing, and producing. It's like they were alive all along.

And it hit me.

Those rescals didn’t come to life sitting safely in that packet.
They didn’t grow because they stayed clean and protected.
They came alive when they were buried.
When they got dirty.
When they were pressed into something uncomfortable and unseen.

I started thinking about us. You and me.
How much of our lives we spend trying to stay safe.
Trying to avoid being hurt, exposed, uncomfortable, or stretched.

We do everything we can to stay “in the packet.”
But nothing grows there.
It’s in the moments we’d rather avoid—
the pressure, the mess, the uncertainty—
that something in us actually begins to change.

That’s where growth happens.
Not when everything feels good…
but when life gets a little dirty.

Maybe the goal isn’t to stay protected, my friend.
Maybe it’s to trust that even in the dirt…
something in you is simply trying to come alive.

Encouragement and Love from my family to yours,

Rob

You and I weren’t sent into life empty.

We were sent in equipped.

Love… patience… humility… vision… courage… discipline…
It’s all there. The whole shootin' match.
Factory installed.

Nothing missing. Nothing forgotten.

But here’s where we veer off track—
It’s not about what you were given…
it’s about what you let come out and play.

Two people, built the same on the inside.
One blocks, the other trusts.

What’s that? You have anger issues? Maybe.
Or maybe patience is sitting right there and you’re not giving it any airtime.

You say, “I’m not disciplined.”

Or is it that you keep giving comfort the mic?

Truth is, the Kingdom of God isn’t “out there”
somewhere. It’s within you. Can you believe it!

Luke 17:21
“The kingdom of God is within you.”

Which means…

You’re not lacking, my friend.
You’re blocking.

Blocking love with pride.
Blocking patience with reacting`.
Blocking clarity with noise.
Blocking action with made-up stories.

The FLIP?

Stop trying to go get something you already have.

Start asking:

“How am I interrupting what’s already in me?”

Because life doesn’t change when you and I add more…

It changes when we release what’s been there all along.

Encouragement and Love from my family to yours,

Rob's audio: https://robflips.com/audioblog/

I’ve spent a good chunk of my life trying to look strong.

Somewhere along the way, I picked up this idea that strength meant having the right answer…
winning the argument…
never looking wrong, weak, or unsure.

So I got good at it.
Or at least I thought I did.

Standing my ground.
Explaining my point.
Doubling down when I felt challenged.

I figure a lot of us are doing the same thing.
We think strength means holding the line.
But life has a sneaky way of teaching something completely different.

I remember one moment—simple, nothing dramatic.
Franca said something that rubbed me wrong.
Didn’t even matter what it was.
But I felt it… that little surge.

Oh, I’ve got a response for that.
Let me explain why that’s not right.
Let me fix this real quick.

You know the feeling.
And right there… I had a choice.
Push back… or pause.

So, I gave “pause” a try.

Instead of loading my comeback, I asked,
“Help me understand what you meant by that.”

No defense. No correction. Just… curiosity.

And just like that, the whole tone shifted.
That’s when it hit me.
Real strength doesn’t show up when you win.
It shows up when you don’t need to.

Lord teach me this:
The strongest person in the room isn’t the one who proves the most…
it’s the one who protects the connection—even when they might've been right.

Rob audio version: https://robflips.com/audioblog/

What would your life look like if God wasn’t lying?

I know… sounds blunt.
But stay with me.

Here’s why I ask. I think about this a lot.

I say I trust Him…

…but I still catch myself:

holding back
playing it safe
overthinking everything
bracing for the worst
Sily me. Sometimes I feel like I'm living life like driving a Ferrari in first gear.

I ask for direction… and then hesitate.
Or I ask for peace… and keep the worry.

I have a sneakin’ suspicion you and I might be in the same boat.

So, which is it?

Do I believe Him…
or do I just like the idea of believing Him?

And what is he promising, anyway?

1. Abundant Life
Not survival. Not barely getting by.

👉Full, rich, meaningful life.

“I have come that they may have life… and have it abundantly.” — John 10:10

2. He’s With You—Always
Not sometimes. Not when you’re “good.”

👉Always. Even in your mess.

“I will never leave you nor forsake you.” — Hebrews 13:5

3. He’s Working Things for Good
Even the stuff you don’t understand.
Even the stuff you wouldn’t choose.

👉Nothing is wasted.

“In all things God works for the good…” — Romans 8:28

4. He Gives You Wisdom (Freely)
You’re not supposed to figure life out alone.

👉Ask—and He guides.

“If any of you lacks wisdom, ask God… and it will be given.” — James 1:5

5. Peace Is Available (Even Now)
Not when everything is perfect.

👉Right in the middle of chaos.

“My peace I give you… do not be troubled.” — John 14:27

If He’s telling the truth…

—Maybe I don’t need to have it all figured out.
—Maybe I don't have to wait for the perfect time
—Maybe I can take the step now.
—Maybe I can relax my white-knuckle grip a little.

—Maybe life doesn’t need me to be its event coordinator.

FLIP IT
Think about this:
What if nothing’s actually being held back from me…

except my willingness to trust?

So let me put my money where my mouth is. By the end of next month from me:

a new book finished
a new online course created
ten reels filmed
So here’s my question for you:

If you actually believed Him, if you knew God was telling the truth… what would you do next? What would your next move be?

❤️ Do that.

Encouragement and love!
