Fancy is a funny drag (with a beard) entertainer

Our computer got hijacked. That was a bad time. Over with it now. Things back to normal now!

I will be doing the mall Santa thing again this year. BUT ...

I am thinking that once we get out of living at home, I will perform at benefits.

I am doing the mall Santa gig slightly out of town, but in driving distance. Still it is basically taking all of my time right now

Am I really less than a year away from the magick number 69 years old? Yes, I am. I do have a Santa Claus beard almost year round, but I am willing to do camp humor in it. Or I have a wonderful deep bass singing voice. (Give me a month and I'll have a song worked up for you.) So, if you'd like to have me in your benefits, I'm willing to do it!! Just give me a longer time to get ready for one than my younger self would have needed.

My in-the-same body brother, Bill, will be singing in a gospel service on Good Friday, and in a small play as Judas on Holy Thursday. And I hear, though I haven't heard any details, that I remember, that I may be singing as a member of the Resurrection Gospel Ensemble at a benefit for Don Gill's charities sometime soon.

I might never go back to Buzzard's Peak again. They are so insistent that you follow their Leather Code if you can. No problem there, usually. Then they don't follow any other part of the community's codes. When I stepped down as Miss Lone Star, I had to throw a bitch fit, very quietly and with dignity, to get to do a stepping down number, and then it was on the night after the pageant, during the talent night festivities.
Then a couple for whom I have had the highest regard wanted to know if one of their leather pins had fallen into my bag. One which I had complimented earlier that evening. They did not call me a thief, but when I said, I don't think so, but you're welcome to look through everything in my bag if you wish, so long as you put it all back and zip it up. Oh, no! I had to look through it myself in front of them. Hah! Later, they did apologize after they had found out that another man had mistaken their whole vest for his own and walked off to a party they were expected at.
Sorry, I may have shamed myself by losing my sash during my reign, but I replaced it at my own expense before I told them I had lost it. I did not deserve this treatment.

I will be at Buzzard's Peak with my husby, Loyal, for Ratsenol. We'll be in one of the double beds in the bunkhouse, I think. (That doesn't mean that we won't play around there. We're like library books. You can borrow one but you can't hurt it and you have to bring it back. LOL)
Anyway, I've told them that I will be in the show. But y'all know I like to do strange, surprising things. I'm thinking seriously about doing a live-voice (Me singing? Yeah! No joke.) male song.
What do you think of that?
If you like it, do you want to make any suggestions as to what song? I'd better be finding it already, so I can find the music track and memorize it.
For sure!

February 18th, or thereabouts (another day I forget for sure right now) - in the afternoon - Annual concert of the Gospel Ensemble I sing with (way down low bass, I am. Surprised? LOL) - for details contact Resurrection MCC.

I know I've been a bit quiet lately. Not like me, eh? LOL .... However, this has been the Summer of Church Shows! ... Oddly enough, the next one up is Drag Bingo. That's always a lot of fun for those in drag (which, with the size of my beard right now - Bill does Santa = FB page Santa Loves Houston, which I haven't updated in a while either - well, it's beyond even my interest in gender f**k drag, y'all) and those who love playing Bingo with those little markers et al. So, what's odd about it is that I myself probably won't be there. .... This Summer, I did my first serious number (from Les Miz, even) at the Broadway Cabaret, did a small role in Jesus Christ Superstar, Husby Loyal and I organized and ran for two of it four shows the concession stand for Southern Baptist Sissies, and performed in three numbers, none of the solos, at a live voice benefit at Neon Boots. Whew! but loads of fun!

The story of the tent - wonderful generosity up against claustrophobia, LOL. As we couldn't get into the bunkhouse at Buzzard's Peak (Texas Council of Clubs) (sold out! Yay!), we had to tent camp and we have never done that together in our nearly twenty years. But we were able to find a very generous friend who loaned us his old tent and an air mattress.
He warned us that the tent was small and he wasn't sure if there would be any room in it for our gear after we blew up the air mattress. It would be wall to wall.
He was nearly right, but there was just enough room on the sides to stack up all of our gear. However, he hadn't worked with the old mattress or the old tent for a long time, and probably never together. When we stuck the mattress into the tent, the foot of it wemt about a foot and a half outside the door!
Plus, it was a pup tent, basically. so the mattress filled up about half of the door, up and down. (Remember, I am not upset about all of this. I tell the story because I consider it funny.)
And the only windows in the tent were at the top, where, because of the rainy night, they had to be covered up by the rain flap.
Suffice it to say that part way through the night, poor husby Loyal wound up putting one of our comfortable camp chairs under a picnic cover tent no one was using and sleeping there.
I hope to tell the story of how Janet also proved quite benevolent the second night and Loyal was able to sleep inside, hopefully tomorrow.

When we got back from Lone Star campout, we were tuckered, as well as quite happy and satisfied and with some good stories to tell about, among other thngs, my loyal husband's first tent camping since Boy Scouts. So, why haven't you heard from me?
I also seem to have come back with the beginning of a strong cold with a cough attached. Hey, rainy, spending almost all of my time outside? Worth it, but ... But i went to Copellia at Houston Ballet and wasn't the only audience member styfling a cough. They couldn't have all been up there with us.
And then when I got over it, husby got it! And hasn't been quite right since. (It also is starting to look like he may have started to be lactose intolerant, like his big sister.)
So, yes, I think that I'll be able to slowly start telling you our stories - but slowly and distractedly, maybe, what with my sweet baby's changing health situation, eh?
