Thresholds do not understand machines.

Two identical pumps can run differently. Load, install, foundation, piping, age, process, history.

So why do we pretend one alarm limit understands both?

Behavioral AI starts from a better idea. Learn what normal looks like for this machine, then flag the change. Not because a generic limit was crossed, but because the machine stopped acting like itself.

That is the difference between a dumb alarm and an early fault call.

Are threshold alarms still the default because they work, or because they are easy to set up?

Wireless vibration has a data problem.

Most wireless sensors do not send the real signal. They send summaries. RMS, peak, temperature, a few trend points.

Useful, but not the same as seeing the waveform.

Bearing faults, looseness, gear mesh, and rub patterns live inside the signal. If the AI never sees the signal, it is already half blind.

That is why full time-waveform over LoRaWAN matters. Wireless coverage without starving the diagnosis.

Would you trust an AI fault call if it never saw the full waveform?

Offshore, deferred production is measured in dollars per minute.

An export gas compressor was drifting into misalignment. AirVibe caught the axial-vibration shift, MultiViz AI flagged the turbine-blower misalignment, and it was laser-aligned in a planned outage, before a full export-train trip.

Caught early is estimated at 25,000 to 150,000 dollars and up, given the production impact.

Every probe wired back to a rack is a lot of cable and a lot of cost.

Twin Prox daisy-chains up to 20 units on a single RS-485 line. Color-coded terminals in series. Less wire pulling, less conduit, lower install cost.

Same protection, far less to install and maintain.

How much of your last monitoring project was hardware versus wiring labor?

Modernize the rack, not the machine.

Most proximity upgrades turn into a capital project. New cabinets, re-probing, downtime.

Twin Prox is API 670 design and works with existing 3300XL and NSV probes, digital output over Modbus RS-485. You keep the probes and the machine. You lose the legacy rack.

When a rack finally dies, does it have to mean a full re-probe?

You should not need a rack to see an orbit.

Proximity monitoring on critical machines usually means a cabinet, a separate monitor, and a big install.

The pump was blamed. The strainer was the problem.

A charge pump was showing high-frequency broadband energy. TriVibe streams the full waveform continuously over wire, MultiViz AI pointed at the suction strainer, not the pump. Cleared on inspection before the seal or impeller was damaged.

Early, an estimated 0 to 3,000 dollars. Late, 20,000 to 100,000 and a possible leak.

How many pumps get rebuilt for a problem that was upstream?

One bearing can back up an entire facility.

A single gearbox or pulley bearing fails, the line jams, dock windows get missed, and the crew stands idle.

Those drivetrain faults show up in vibration before they stop the belt. Small, cheap, and catchable, if anyone is watching.

Permanent monitoring across the line turns a line-down event into a planned swap.

In a hospital, the BMS alarms after comfort is already gone.
