It seems every day we see a neat way to repurpose used wine corks. Here is one of our favorites! You may not know, but WidgetCo is one of the largest recyclers of used wine corks in the world. We have kept millions of wine corks from entering landfills to find another life!

Folks love natural cork. WIDGETCO is fortunate to supply a lot of wine corks and cork stoppers and we hear great things from users. Cork has been used in winemaking since the 17th century when a French monk by the name of Dom Perignon decided using a natural cork to seal wine was superior to sealing wine with a rag. The rest is history as he went on to create the world's most renowned champagne. Today, over 2 million hectares of cork forests are sustainably managed. The bark is stripped from the tree to make billions of cork stoppers and yes, cork oak bark will regrow. Some will argue that a tree will die after the bark is stripped. Although this is true with almost all trees, the cork oak is unique and will regrow the bark to be harvested again. So, please enjoy cork for it's natural beauty and sustainability - we do!
