This is a page for anyone looking to learn about liberty and unschooling. We are a family of four making our way through life, learning as much as we can on the way. We believe in liberty, freedom, peaceful interactions, and individual rights. We love voluntaryism, natural living, peaceful parenting, and of course, unschooling! We do not censor others, nor do we censor ourselves so we invite you to ask questions, discuss, and keep things friendly.

For all the parents out there who are struggling with distance learning, whether to send your kids back to school, or just trying to find your new normal in these difficult days: I hope you know you’re not alone. 💜

"Today was a Difficult Day," said Pooh.
There was a pause.
"Do you want to talk about it?" asked Piglet.
"No," said Pooh after a bit. "No, I don't think I do."
"That's okay," said Piglet, and he came and sat beside his friend.
"What are you doing?" asked Pooh.
"Nothing, really," said Piglet. "Only, I know what Difficult Days are like. I quite often don't feel like talking about it on my Difficult Days either.
"But goodness," continued Piglet, "Difficult Days are so much easier when you know you've got someone there for you. And I'll always be here for you, Pooh."
And as Pooh sat there, working through in his head his Difficult Day, while the solid, reliable Piglet sat next to him quietly, swinging his little legs...he thought that his best friend had never been more right."

I haven’t been sharing much these past few months because, well, you guys know why. Covid has taken over everything and turned so many of our neighbors and peers who are parents onto their heads. As an unschooling family, I am so thankful that we’ve been on this journey since before our kids were born but my heart goes out to my friends with kids in the public school system. I know things are difficult and contentious for folks with kids in school, and I just don’t want to add fuel to the fire. So, fellow unschooling families, what do you think we can do to help our mainstreamed friends the most right now? Should we be sharing helpful links guiding people towards the unschooling life or should we be offering our unconditional support? I’ve been practicing the latter for lack of better direction but I feel so helpless. I hate to see people struggling when it’s so much easier for parents and kids alike to let go and let the kids find their own rhythm. Thoughts?

The “Unschooling” Movement Lets Kids Direct Their Learning—And Shocker, It Works The other day I mentioned to my 6-year-old son that there was a rare tornado in New Jersey near where we live, which led to him asking tons of questions about tornados, which led to me answering those questions, which led to us watching videos of tornados and him asking a bunch more questions. We [....

What do you all think about this one?

When we ask ourselves, “What is wrong with our society?” we must be willing to turn over every stone and examine closely what we see no matter how painful. I keep coming back to one stone...Have we adults traded selfish pursuits at the expense of our children? Have we become so aligned with institutional promises to care for our kids that we can’t clearly see the failures? To make matters worse, we make excuses for the institutions and believe they will only be better if they are more armed, more financially supported, given more time, more people. Maybe it’s more simplicity we need. 🧡
